I saw that someone did a thing where you pick your Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits tracklisting, and so I thought it would be cool to pick out a tracklisting for Mellon Collie since there are so many songs. Here is mine:

Dawn to Dusk
01.Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
02.Jellybelly
03.Zero
04.The Boy
05.Transformer
06.Bullet with Butterfly Wings
07.Beautiful
08.X.Y.U
09.Fuck You (An Ode to No One)
10.Bodies
11.1979
12.Muzzle

Twilight to Starlight
01.Tonight, Tonight
02.Where Boys Fear to Tread
03.Tales of a Scorched Earth
04.By Starlight
05.Galapogos
06.Thirty-Three
07.In the Arms of Sleep
08.Set the Ray to Jerry
09.Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
10.Jupiter's Lament
11.The Last Song
12.Infinite Sadness
Tonite Reprise [Hidden Track]

MCIS is pretty much perfect as it is for me.

The only slight downside to the tracklisting I can think of is the five slow songs at the end of disc 2. I feel it would work better if there was a more rocking song in place of Lily. That's a very minor point though, and I like all the songs on there.

As for including songs from TAFH, I made a compilation of my favourite songs from the boxset a couple of months ago.
I came out with 15 tracks, running at about 55 minutes. And I'd say that is now my 3rd favourite Pumpkins CD, behind MCIS and Siamese Dream.

Epitome, I 100% agree with you, especially about the lull at the end of Disc 2. Lily should've been a b-side. Maybe throw in something like Mouths of Babes there instead.

I don't know, I just think that a great many of the b-sides would have been a better fit for the album instead of songs like "Here Is No Why", "Lily (My One and Only)", and "Take Me Down", and so on...

Whaaat?!?! How can you have MCIS without "Here is No Why"

I would add "God" to Dawn to Dusk and "The Last Song" to Twilight, making it 15 songs per disc.

It could have been worse, "Autumn Nocturne" could have been included.

"Here Is No Why" is pretty bad though. As for "Take Me Down," it was by . What do you expect.

Well who knows why there's alull at the end of disc 2...

I think it might of been done intentionally, as Billy has said tha the album represents a cycle of a day and night, or life, or whatever...

Hustle and bustle generally cools off at the end of the day, or at the end of your life, doesn't it?

Exactly, that's the way the album was structured. It wouldn't make sense to have Tales of a Scorched Earth next to Farewell and Goodnight.

It's a bit different to Gish, it Rocks through the first half, then in the middle it goes low, then it picks up again HEAPS.

Then brings it all down with Daydream.

MCIS is the greatest album ever made in my opinion. And a good example of why albums are much better than a collection of single songs.
