Wow. Way to stereotype Catholics. This is the precise reason why Billy won't full-out proclaim to be a Catholic or a Christian, because people assume they know exactly how and what he practices. He (and many religious/spiritual people) are not 100 percent dogmatic. Sure, there are the by-the-book zealots who give religion a bad name by saying, for example, homosexuality is a sin, etc. But generally, the faithful of any religion want to be respected for their individual beliefs. And outside of bigotry-laden scriptures or other passages that can be misinterpreted to promote hatred, we should grant them that.

when i was still a kid i was forced to go to church it was a christian church and there bible is against gay people and abortion i don't choose to believe that crap im not trying to give religion a bad name but those were things the pastor always brought up each damn week and you wonder why i stoped going when i got my own voice and thats why i don't think billy's a christian cause he isn't a homophobe he has his own believes of whatever.

It's unfortunate that your particular pastor used the Bible for his own loathesome purposes. BUT a lot of Christian and Catholic churches and individual worshippers do not preach such intolerance. There are even churches with gay and lesbian pastors themselves. I believe you and I are on the same side of the argument (ish) but this sentence I just cannot agree with silently:

One might interpret that to mean that you think all Christians who identify themselves as such are automatically homophobes. Not on, man. Not on.

If there isn't such a word as "religionist", then there should be. Because religion gets a lot of crap from people.

I had my headphones in when listening to the song and was stunned when I heard the verse kick in.

I goggled the lyrics but all I could find was this site as a discussion about it.

Now not being the slightest bit religious I find this kind of insulting.

Now there is nothing wrong with believing in something and stating "I believe in Zeus" or "I dig Mohammad" But when you say "Evolution Lies"...you're taking the piss out of human intelligence.

Hey, don't you think that the title of the song, "SuperChrist", could be ironic? The clip reinforces the feeling that this song is a kind of a joke, we should not take it too seriously.

Maybe the song is the point of view of Jesus Christ, or the theme of the song is Billy's ego , or maybe even Billy does not even know the meaning of his song.

Your entire argument is based upon the premise that the lyric is "illusion" and not "disillusion" - I wish someone could clear this up, ASAP. Preferrably the man himself. Not that I care, one way or the other, but it would end alot of arguments. Maybe it was cleared up earlier in this thread, but I didn't notice. If so, correct me.

Secondly, you have to be a really dim individual to limit your understanding of the universe to what you were taught in a highschool textbook. I'm no Christian by any standards, but kudos to Billy for thinking outside the box in a time where such opinions are so unpopular.
