Nothing & Everything 8 Months ago

There seem to be two different versions of this song, or at least two different recordings of it. One from an earlier date with the "Nothing Ever Changes" tape, and then the one from "Mashed Potatoes".
SPFC doesn't list these as being different, but do any of you know when each were recorded? Apparently the earlier one is with the old drummer from The Marked, so maybe the newer one features Jimmy?

Well, the older one (from nothing ever changes) features Ron Roesing from the Marked and James Iha.
But it seems to me like a druming machine was used on that. It's from late '87.
The newer version (from Mashed Potatoes) was a rerecording with the "real" Pumpkins (D'arcy, James & Jimmy on drums) from '88.
But i like the older one more, it's a bit harder and more emotional, altough they made up an interesting solo on the new one.
It's one of the best early songs to me!

Ah, I see. Thanks!
I think I like both of them equally, in that they have something different to offer.

It would have fit nicely on Gish, I agree. Maybe a bit more production would have been nice before hand.

A lot of their early songs (that only ever made it as demos or live performances) were better than some of the tracks that appeared on Gish, in my opinion.

I didn't mean to sound too harsh on Gish. Though it's nowhere near being one of my favourites, I do quite like to listen to it now and then. I just think the quality of some of their other early songs was higher.
As for worst Pumpkins album, for me that has to be Machina. Though picking my favourite tracks from Machina and Machina 2 makes a pretty good CD.

Heh! Gish is definitely one of my favorites, and the songs are just great to rock out with. I'm very much so a person about composition, and I thought that those songs were very well composed.
In fact, I think my most listened to albums my them are Zeitgeist, Gish, and Machina.
