Adore Anniversary 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
|
I was gonna wait until tomorrow to post this, but I dont think I'll have access to a computer and I couldnt bare if anyone forgot...
So basically, tomorrow - June 1 (or June 2nd for you in the US) marks the ten year anniversary of the album Adore. This is my personal favourite album by the band and I still maintain that it is often criminally underated. I wont go into detail about the album as Im sure most of you already know loads about it, but I think its cool to reflect on the album's impact over ten years. Although it never really gained any great success its influences can be seen in lots of contemporary music and in some ways the album is still way ahead of this time.
So basically, take some time to listen to the album over the weekend and remind yourselves of how great it is; or if you dont particularly like it - give it anoter try. I can guarantee its worth it!
Gosh, Ive made this sound like a religious ceremony haha....
But yeah, lets all join and celebrate this great album!!!

Yes, how could we forget this???
ADORE - it's so close to MCIS (my favorite)...the beauty of it is unbelievable...i can't understand how fans can like Zeitgeist more like this....
It's the underrated masterpiece and definitly THE album wich made me a real fan of the band...it's like a walk in the park in the twilight of an golden autumn day...
I just started listening to it.. "You make me real...".

adore is a great album, but i didnt really like it at first. it grew on me over the years, and now i think it is a great album. as far as not believing people could like zeitgiest more... you have to remember that taste can not be taught. besides, who are you to judge someones musical taste anyway?

i'll agree to that, at the beginning, i only listened to ava adore, perfect, for martha, pug, and appels and oranjes when it first came out but some of my favorite tracks evolved on me like behold the nightmare, shame, and to sheila.

Me too. Particularly Tear - the version of that on "Adore Live" could be my favourite SP live performance.
Shows how easily they could've made the songs on Adore great rocks songs. But I like the more mellow approach they took so it's nice to hear them let loose when they play them live

I like Adore as much as the next guy. I would like to hear what some of your examples of this would be though.

Agreed. Adore is great, but if anything it sounded slightly 80s, rather than ahead of its time. I certainly can't see how it has influenced music since then. Still, fantastic album all the same.

Yes, I feel that is the best Tear to date. Daphne Descends and Behold the Night-mare are also amazing!
To me the mellow approach is like they are brand new songs, each with their own specialness.
And Adore was such a personal album for Billy, that means alot too.

Yeah, I think you can feel the emotions more in Adore than any other Pumpkins album. That might have been drowned out to some degree if they'd gone with a heavier approach to the songs.

The best way to listen to adore is to get yourself a good cold case of beer or a warm bottle of sipping whiskey and close yourself into a dark room with no disturbances and just turn it up really loud. Listen to every song...don't skip the ones you don't like as much...and just take in every word. The emotion is so incredible. There are several songs on there that still make me cry from time to time. Happy 10th birthday, Adore!

I just randomly decided to listen to adore the other day, just because I hadn't listened to it for a while.
Good golly, Miss Molly. It's a cracker of an album, if I do say so myself.
