July 15, 2008 - Pumpkins back in the studio


The Smashing Pumpkins currently recording new single.

The Smashing Pumpkins are back in the studio recording a new single (reported earlier) that will be available this September.

The new single will be titled G.L.O.W. and is the first studio effort from the band since the American Gothic sessions.

The has been no word on the style or arrangement of the song at this time.

A nice bit of information there. Gives nothing away about the song though, where some titles I think do! I don't really have a reaction to that title, it really hints at nothing

I though ladies wrestling myself. Wasn't there something about him doing a song for WWE or something like that?
Wouldn't it be great to peak at a lyric line
cause I have no clue on where they are going with that title..interesting

For some reason it makes me think of a glowing jack-o-lantern on Halloween...

well I can see why with the band name and the song tile. Gosh I just wonder what it sounds like and well I just want to hear it

My best guess is that it won't sound much like Zeitgeist, probably more poppy.
I'd prefer if they surprised us in September, because I'm going to be spending all summer anticipating this, like I did for Tarantula last year

Sp's new song is about womens wrestling somehow-
That just seems so, I don't know-gees. Now I am going to drive myself crazy until they release it...maybe it stands for something only Billy knows and we'll get it later

Or ... It might just be like X.Y.U, which didn't ever really stand for anything.

Seriously though, could the G stand for 'Glass' ... or is this just my over reactive Smashing Pumpkins mind working in over drive?

What ever it is ... exciting times!

Is that truly what the song stands for, or just what the best guess/speculation is? That's very odd if that is right, kinda puts me off a bit.

On the other hand, "Glow" sounds very nice to me, and it initially reminds me of "Bring the Light". And I imagine this single to be very magical and full of strings and loud, and... wonderful.
