Top 10 Most Performed Songs 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Sunky did a pretty cool article about the chances of hearing certain songs at a Pumpkins show. Here's the top 10 most played:

10. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans - Performed: 230 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 22.5% chance.
09. Rocket - Performed: 246 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 24.1% chance.
08. Silverfuck - Performed: 267 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 26.2% chance.
07. Zero - Performed: 298 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 29.2% chance.
06. Disarm - Performed: 364 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 35.7% chance.
05. 1979 - Performed: 382 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 37.5% chance.
04. Tonight, Tonight - Performed: 402 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 39.4% chance.
03. Cherub Rock - Performed: 410 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 40.2% chance.
02. Today - Performed: 446 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 43.8% chance.
01. Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Performed: 457 times, from 1019 known shows, that is a 44.8% chance.

All from SD and MCIS

I didn't hear Cherub Rock, Disarm, Zero, Silverfuck or Rocket at the show I went to but I'm not diisappointed that I missed Disarm or Zero.

Hang on a darn flippin' minute, how did he calculate those percentages? He should of made... for example, BWBW 457 times from the amount of shows they did starting from when they first played it, if that makes sense.

BWBW didn't exist at least before 1993

interesting, but i'm wondering if he factored in that some songs came later like you said geek. that means bwbw would possibly be a higher percent.

It would be much MUCH higher. About 90 percent. In fact, probably 100 percent.

It's a 100% chance that if you go to a SP gig, you will hear BWBW.

And Porcerlina was awesome live

Hey all, I can see how I phrased that one line has caused much confusion around the place and to be honest, I didn't see it that way. I ran this article past a few people, to make sure the facts were correct (last thing I wanted to do was get the numbers wrong) and nobody picked up on it as an issue. It was taken by the basis I had written, that if you look at the total number of shows played in the bands entire career against the times played, thats the number. Sure hearing Bullet, Today, 1979 are higher if you think about it in 'real life' siutaiton, but this was based on a complete numbers look, taking the whole "popularity" factor of a song out of it. I know its not maybe the "correct" way of working it out, but they were the guidelines I set ... somewhat paying for it now

The one thing that came from it when I was getting the numbers together was it made me realise just how much some songs have been played since the band got back together, Porcelina for one. I did the list back in 2000 with some people on the OBoard and I remember that Siva and I Am One were in the top 10, that then reminded me of how little Gish we've got since the band got back together ... guess the Gish tours will change that.

Glad some people here liked it.

They played it in Munich last February as an opener...it was hypnotic!

Sunky I enjoyed your article

You are so lucky Don to hear Porcelina and it was the opening-how magical...hypnotic, aw man that would have brought me to Euphoria.

Out of those, I've seen all but Rocket, Silverfuck, and Disarm. Porcelina was a magical opener, but my up-in-the-clouds seat at the O2 Arena kind of impended on my enjoyment of the show...

Since SP 1st played BWBW the percent is really 72%

And for United States it is 96%

such percentages have no real effect on what we will hear

Did you just calculate that?

I bet Today is MUCH lower then, it's been played fewer times than BWBW but has been played for two years longer.

Well do you count tv appearances, radio shows etc.? If so that would bring the percentages down some.
