OK, I think, in a way, we all expected more, I guess.
Personally, I was wishing, Billy wasn't doing another rock-anthem, but GLOW has become just this.
But it sounds pretty good, it has more "Pumpkins-flow" than all the reunion-stuff Billy did so far (maybe except "Ma Belle" which sounds like a Siamese Outtake).
I understand the way your thinking...I also want some more emotional music from Billy. They've played the hard-rock band for long enough and now it's time to bring back what made The Smashing Pumpkins once so special.

I like it. It's not big and it's not clever, but it does have a similar sound to some of the stuff from the MCIS-era - not quite up to that standard, but not a lot is.
I was pleasantly surprised by how rocking it is, so personally I'm pleased. I'm never going to get all that excited by a single (it's just one song after all, listen to it several times and then move on), it will sound nice on my Pumpkins "rarities" compilation though.
In terms of chart success I doubt it will do very well, but I couldn't care less about that and I hope Billy and Jimmy aren't bothered about that kind of stuff either - by this stage in their career they should just be interested in making good music.

I think it's one of the best songs they've done since the reunion, right up there with Stellar and the AOL version of HMM.

its pretty good, but i'm not sure i would go that far. it does sound more pumpkin than a lot of stuff they have been doing, but i'm not all "holy crap, thats the best thing i've ever heard" about it. its still too early to judge for me though. i want the studio version.

Well, I love this song as much as the any other Pumpkin song, I guess! I don't really prioritize their songs, because for the most part, every one is different, and while GLOW may sound like a MCIS outtake, it's not, so I just appreciate it without comparison.
I really like the vocal harmonies, and I just love the overall sound of the song!
WBFTT boring? Preposterous!

Neither am I really, I just think it's one of their better songs.
Maybe I kind of meant one of the most likeable, although that obviously isn't the case with robertedge.

I think the studio version has the possibility to sound really good, but from the live versions I've heard so far, it just sounds like another decent Pumpkins tune.

This song rocks my socks off when played live (just saw them in Charlotte--amazing). My brother and I both agreed it sounds completely awesome. Studio version could be a different story I guess, but for right now I love it.
And yeah, Where the Boys Fear to Tread is cool too. And underrated.
