Who should produce the next Pumpkins record?

I really think that Flood really got the best out of Billy and the band. So I'd like to see them work with Flood again.

Or maybe Rick Rubin!......

wow this is a great post. and before i even clicked on it i was thinking of rick rubin as well. hes made some amazing records for the chili peppers and he has seemingly helped metallica put out a great album. i am still pissed that we have never been able to hear the Rick Rubin produced version of Let Me Give The World To You from Adore. It would be interesting to see what him and the pumpkins could accomplish for a whole album. But you are right, Flood has always worked well with Billy and that would never be a bad choice. But in some ways I would love to see them work with someone they havent worked with before, just to see what would happen.

I'd love to see SP work with Jacknife Lee. He did wonders on the most recent REM and Bloc Party records.

but in the end as long as the pumpkins are still rockin i dont care who produces for them

Definatley not Rick Rubin, the guys going deaf and consequently fucks up every album he's producing as of late... Metallicas new album is a prime example.

They certainly need someone new, even if its just mixing and no input with the band, the vocal mixes in particular have been dire since the 'reunion'

I think we should care to be honest. I watch the Pumpkins MTV Rockumentary the other day, the one just as MCIS was out.

Billy and Jimmy were talking a lot about producers and recording and how Flood really goes for the emotional content of a song.

Now I'm not saying I want another MCIS (I love the Pumpkins because they never stand still musically or go backwards )but I really think that if the Pumpkins/Billy write songs for themselves (rather than for chat success or trying to get new fans) and get the emotion of a song then I'm sure they will be back on top form.

I vote for Jacknife Lee (nice one trillian), Flood, Butch Vig, or Ric Ocasek though this would never happen.
