^ I remember hearing an interview from Billy.. it is something like that.. I think he got inspired while driving his car or sth and chose "1979" cause it was easy to rhyme with.

1979 reminds me of being young. I was in the 9th grade when that song came out and it, to me, makes me think of being youthful and careless.
