I bought siamese dream because I thought the video for "today" was cool....I loved that clunky ice cream truck and the paint fight....I was impressed with the rest of the album, until I got to Geek USA, and my life has never been the same. that song to this day is one of my top 3 favorites of all time by anybody. it amazes me every time I hear it. it was instant addiction from that point on.

When i was around 11 or 12 I recall seeing the BWBW video on this music chart show. I thought that song was just the coolest ever, along the moody video and everything. I used to watch that program every week just to see that video.

Soon after, I saved enough money to buy MCIS and it changed my life. Until then I had been fanatical about Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden and the like, but MCIS beat them all. I grew to love every moment on it.

When i was 13 I was sent to boarding school, and MCIS became the soundtrack to my isolated, angsty, adolescent existence. I sometimes wonder how I would have coped without it, as every single night at lights out I would listen to it in the dark, both cds back to back, without skipping a single song.

Its a simple story, but at that particular time, when it happened, it was like the BIGGEST BANG in my life musically.
I was with my best friend at their house, smoking a little weed, it was around 1999-2000. The TV was on, suddenly I stayed alone in the room and the video clip of 1979 began on MTV. I stopped and I was just staring at the screen, it was just me and the music there (even now I`m shivering a bit if I think at that moment) and I was thinking: GOD, that is what I was always searching for musically, I was very familiar with the sound and voice of Billy, nevertheless I have never heard about them anything. At that time I knew that I will adore this band, nevermind their look or any shallowness...
And now I`m listening to landslide and I`m convinced again and again that I was right)

I think the first SP album I ever listened to was MCIS, I was like... 7. My cousin had it and SP was her favourite band. I didn't like the album at all (I was a child ) but when I was around 10 I started to love it. And i love SP since then.

well i first remember seeing the "tonight tonight" video when i was maybe...5 or 6, and it stuck with me because i thought it was so cool how the moon made silly faces...but then in 5th grade i re-heard the song on the radio and immediatly became interested. it's surprising that it took me that long to discover them considering i had been listening to 90's alternative for about 6 months then. so i bought/had my mom buy me MCIS and SD the following week and i've been in love with the band for the past 5 and a half years.

There was a tv programme here called "Top+" and I recall seeing MCIS on the charts. I thought the album cover was cool. The lonely lady on that star was just amazing. I still love it.

This is going to sound really sad, but the first time I ever heard the Pumpkins was on 101.1 KUFO THE ONLY STATION THAT REALLY ROCKS!!!
(*crash boom screams of people succombing to the power of the rock* *begin soft, whiny emo ballad* )

They played Bullet with Butterfly Wings, and the only lyrics I could pick out were "The world is a vampire" and "despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage" I thought it was a weird song, but what really fascinated me was the guitar in the background near the end. But that was the only pumpkins song I heard for many years, but then I listened to Tonght , Tonight and they were instantly my favorite band

My first encounter with the Pumpkins was when I was around 10 or 11, and I saw their "Tonight, Tonight" video. My sister and I loved it, and that scary moon face turned out to be one of those images that just stays with you the rest of your life. However, I wasn't into popular music back then, and I didn't really start listening to the Pumpkins until I saw a performance of them on Saturday Night Live. I think they performed "Perfect" and either "Zero" or "Bullet With Butterfly Wings." I instantly fell in love with them. And this holds extra significance for me, because it was the FIRST TIME this had ever happened to me with a band. The Smashing Pumpkins were my first favorite band, and I know they'll remain that way forever.

Landslide is a classic cover. It one of those covers that blows the original out of the water... not like those bands who try to cover SP...they usually can't pull it off.
