I am going to buy my first guitar... 1 Year, 3 Months ago

I am new to the guitar world but I already know some of the basics,I have about 600 euros to buy both a guitar and an amp. I was thinking in buying a standard telecaster but I still dont know which amp I should buy, I want a cheap one but not too bad. I am also saving some money for the russian big muff =)
The perfect guitar for me would be a fender jaguar but I dont have enough money, anyway if someone knows about anyone selling one at 500 euros tell me please.

I would suggest buying an amp that has built in effects and at least some way to record and loop tracks. The Fender G-Dec is a pretty good starter amp. It's got around 40 presets and tons of effects. As for the Big Muff, try ebay. I got one about a year ago for around $40.

As far as amps go, best starter with built in effects is the Line 6 Spider II...really worth looking into.

If I were you I would save for a Fender Stratocaster. As for amps....... Dont get a spider 2......get a spider 3... I own the spider 3 and it sound really good. the 75 Watt one should be fine. Also, The spider 3 has an almost perfect Cherub Rock sound preset in it already. the Spider 2 does not have presets and its almost the same price as the spider 3. Hope this helps.

I too would buy a fender jaguar if i had any money. you could go for the squire equivalent; squire jagmaster. i heard its really good: much better than normal squires and even corrects a lot of the faults of the original jaguar like the rubbish bridge. if you are just playing by yourself you woudn't need more than a 30 watt amp. i have a 50 watt and gig with it.

Get a Fender standard strat. I got a Frontman 15 amp, but I grew out of that quick. If you have a strat, you can learn on it well, and not be embarassed about having it when you get better.

- Big Muff (Russian version).
Ok, thanks a lot for help, I may take some months to buy it (2/3 or maybe more) to buy it but when Ill get it Ill show you in this thread how do they look like :P

For a REALLY inexpensive, but still pretty good sounding amp, try out the
Behringer combo amp. Simple to use, tons of little inputs and outputs in the back of it, too. I gig with the GMX 2x12 every weekend and it rocks. You can get it for $200 U.S.

If you want my advice, you can't go wrong with a Schecter guitar. They have affordable models that look, sound and play great. For a cheap guitar, I think it's best to go with that brand.
For amps, you don't need anything big. Trust me. Even the smaller practice amps can be extremely loud. All you need is one speaker in it. I had a small Marshall practice amp and when I had it on a low volume setting you could hear me playing it down the street.
Your best bet would be to look on ebay for one, or check out the sales at your local instrument shop.

Well, for someone looking for a 500 euros guitar.. You should take a second look at the price of a Standard Telecaster because I doubt they are that cheap, especially in Europe. Epiphone has some cool guitars too. I also think Schecter would be one awesome guitar choice. I think Billy is using a Schecter to play United States live. I personally have an American Standard Stratocaster with Lace Sensors in it and it's perfect for me. Lace Sensors kick ass. You could try out a Japanese Standard Stratocaster which is a lot cheaper and then look for a 3 Lace Sensors set on ebay and put them into the Jap Strat. THAT would be a great choice for a start.
As far as amps go... I don't really like moddeling amps. I would recomend going to music shops and try them all! Set a maximum price and then try them all to see which suits you better. Tech21 amps are awesome non-tube amps and some even have Celestion speakers, which kick ass. If you don't intent to gig in a near future, you don't really need anything beyond 50watt. Check the prices on the lower Tech21 amp models and try them out. Maybe you'll like 'em. For effects, you can get a Digitech RP model which has it all and it's cheap. Worked for me in the first few years..

Ok whatever you do ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS try before you buy. We are talking about guitars and amps, things that are almost impossible to have an objective opinion about. Try things out against each other. If you are too embarrassed to play in store tell one of the salespersons that you are looking to buy and if they could give you a demo. Its really going to depend on your budget as well.
Personally one of the better starter packages (if budget is an issue) I have seen is Yamaha Pacifica and Roland Cube 30. The Pacifica is a strat style guitar but often comes with a humbucker pickup in the bridge (which I prefer for rock sounds) and single coils in the middle and neck (great for slightly overdriven and clean sounds). The Cube is a modeler (just like the Line 6 Spider) and is very versatile. Vox also make a range of modeling amps so if versatility is what you are after I suggest you try to find a store with all three so you can road-test them against each other.
One last suggestion do not under any circumstances go anywhere near a Marshall MG, they are absolute garbage. Marshall AVTs are slightly better but way overpriced.
Happy hunting.

here dude, this is what you want. its got everything you need, and different colors

Thats what I started out on, and the guitar has served me well, but you can do much better amp wise. The frontman is alright clean wise for the price but the distortion is horrid. If you go for that expect to be shelling out for a distortion pedal in the near future.
