Effects Pedals 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Whats in your current pedal rig, and how do you have them set up?

Right now I'm running:
Fender BC Stratocaster into
EHX Big Muff
MXR Phase 90
Boss TR2 Tremolo
Boss DD6 out to
Fender G-Dec Amp

I'm really into effects right now. For some reason making random noises can sound really cool. What other pedals should I look into, and do you guys use pedal boards? If so, what do you suggest?

I only have a Big Muff and Boss DS-1 right now. Hopefully soon I'll be getting a Reverb and a Chorus pedal.

For me i have:

Fender Highway One Strat running into
EHX Metal Muff into
EHX Big Muff Pi into
Digitech RP250 into
Line 6 Spider II 212 Amp

and i have an M-Audio Black Box that I rarely use (and i don't have enough cables to put it into my line...

i havent played many pedals so i cant really give any good suggestions. except of course for the Big Muff, which is a given for any guitarist thats a fan of the Pumpkins.

for pedalboards, i dont use one yet, but i suggest that if you only have a handful of pedals, that you build one instead of buying. you'll save alot of money and you can build it custom to your preferences.

I usually have

Ibanez S470 into
Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner / Power Supply
Dunlop Crybaby Wah (True bypass mod)
Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer Overdrive Pro
Electro-Harmonix Little Big Muff
MXR Phase 90 Phaser
Boss CH-1 Chorus
into a Mesa single rectifier combo

I want a Whammy pedal next. I am also a big fan of Native Instruments Guitar Rig software.

Octave Multiplexer
MXR Blue Box
Mellowtone Singing Tree Overdrive
Devi Ever Revolution Fuzz (Same as Devi Ever Rocket, only with a joystick)
Devi Ever Torn's Peaker Fuzz
EHX Memory Man w/Hazarai.
Boss CH-1

Definitely look into www.deviever.com/fx/ she makes many different styles of fuzz, and a few are inspired the Smashing Pumpkins, such as the Rocket. I've owned quite a few of them and they are a blast to play with.

Some ancient thing called "Hot Cake"

It's pretty much like this http://www.pedalgeek.com/cgi-bin/new_shop.cgi?config=&uid=QvlBdAAA1181504984&command=link--cah

except no "Presence" knob. Input, output, there's your distortion, all done.

Sounds very very sludgy and deep.

If I want a crisper sound, I use my dad's friend's digital effects pedal set. You can customise your own effects on it, and it's got a dozens and dozens of presets.

I finally finished my pedalboard:

-Little Big Muff
-Boss Cs-3 (Keeley Mod)
-Boss Re-20 Space Echo
-Boss Sd-1
-Korg Pitchblack

I am pretty new to this new whole world but so far I think I'm doing the correct choices to achieve the sound I want.

Already had a Fuzz Factory DIY, it was pretty lame to be honest, can't understand the hype at all.

Effects!!! As much as i love a nice clean guitar sound my best effective friend is my Boss DD-3 Digital Delay . So versatile for such a small and solid package, if you know how to work one it can be all you need to give freaky Mars Volta or Radiohead sounds.

My other effects pedals include a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah (which needs a good clean and oil inside, it makes a scratchy noise thru the sound output when you move it), a Boss GE-7 Graphic Equaliser which can change your tone amazingly (i have a 80's Jap Fender Tele that i can make sound like a gnarly old Les Paul with this pedal), a [cheap] Danelectro FAB Distortion which has a surprisingly good, versatile tone and control to it, and a Marshall SV-1 Supervibe Chorus pedal that does the job.

I also use an old Peavey 12 (reduced to 10 by who-knows-whats-wrong-with-it) Channel PA for recording and that has a nice built-in Spring Reverb.

Oh i might also say that im a vintage fan... i cant stand computerised effects (so easy to spot them) or tacky multi-effects pedals...

The best of the new pedals i have encountered is the Line 6 DL-4 Delay, The Mars Volta use 2 live, and they are absolutely AMAZING bits of sound manipulation! If you are prepared to pay a bit more for an effect, this pedal will blow your mind [it even has instructions on how to make it sound as if a spaceship is imploding, somehow haha]

Re:Effects Pedals 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
oh, let's see

big muff
boss chorus, flange, DS1
crybaby
digitech delay ( :/ )

I might pick up a digidelay down the road. not only is that a sweet pedal, but think of what I can do with two delays?

Also, I'm planning on purchasing (down the line) a fender blender and micro-synth.

Not a huge fan of digital sounds, but they're okay to start out with.. cheaper, so you can figure out what you really want.
