What's the better pet - I need to decide.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you want loyalty I would go for the dog but if you want intelligence, go for the cat. I personally like dogs better because they seem more jolly. I like cats too, but dogs beat them out by a bit in my books. If you decide to get a dog, get a sheltie. They are cute and super loyal! Not too small or or too big...or too smart...

I'm a cat person. They arent nearly as annoying as dogs.

Dogs- dumber- easy to get it to like you-playful (in their younger days)

CAt- smart- not as playful all the time-easier to take care of-more loving, takes awhile to get them to like you though, you have to gain its trust.

cats i have two. you can have them in an apartment easily and theyre clean. very loving any playful if you have the trust thing down. theyre good in winter as hot water bottle substitutes too haha. i love dogs too but i live in the city and its hard to come by cheaper places that have backyards. if i had a dog id get a minature sausage dog and call her Olga hahahaha.

same, he likes to sleep on the table while we are playing! he is also evil to animals outside-he is a hunter. he eats birds, moles, chipmunks, and baby squirrels....he was found on the street as a baby so he must have survived that way

i prefer dogs.
i live in the city and have a really small backyard, so i kind of feel guilty about keeping my two dogs cooped up all day but i wouldnt get a cat, for some reason i really dont like them. if you live in an apartment then you should get a cat, but if you have the room, DEFINATLY get a dog.

cats are too cool to listen to you, lol, get a german shepard, they are smart and cool as hell when they get old, thats the only dog i would ever get, all other dogs arent cool enough, buts cats id be the next best thing

no! get a staffy(Staffordshire Bull Terrier)! i dont know if you call them that in america. THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE! and they are always happy, and they never stay mad at you... and you can get small ones, and you dont have to take alot of care of their coats because they are short haired...

Well, you can wear a raggedy old flower dress and get about 500 cats. Or you can start wearing army clothing and get a bulldog or german shepherd and train it to sic people you don't like.

Actually, I'm watching right now a documentary on PBS about animals and their emotions. It's amazing when you discover how alike we are in that respect. They talked about animals, like dogs and cats, who suffer from emotional disorders and who improved when given antidepressants. And rescue dogs who became too depressed to work when they couldn't find any survivors.
It's a really beautiful thing (for me, at least) when you see animals feeling or reacting in ways that you thought only humans were capable of. It's also kind of sad, knowing that they feel the same pain we do.

But companionship makes it all better. Get a dog.
