I just bought mine saturday and when I was playing Ghost Recon awhile ago today the screen started turning black and stuff. It was fucking annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?

Ahhh damnit...

...I've recently ordered an XBox 360 for Xmas (nice alliteration there, I like it) and have done my research. The most likely problem with your xbox is that it is overheating.

This is a big problem with XBox 360s!

Make sure that your power supply unit is in a well ventilated area, the same applies to the 360 some people have claimed that hanging it from a piece of string, or balancing it over the edges of a card board box can help here, this means all sides of the unit are open to the air which helps.
Do not place your power supply on a soft surface like carpet or bedding, again the same applies to the 360 itself, as this causes overheating, try a solid surface like wood or metal, maybe metal is better as it conducts heat quickly, I'm unsure about that one.
Some people have told me to place the 360 vertical, but more to place it horizontally, because this means that the huge air vent on the bottom is more open to the air.

You should follow these guidelines as continued overheating can result in the hardware fucking up, and then you'd have to send it off to get repaired (not cheap apparently).

As a last point, always remove discs from the 360 before moving it at all, discs have been known to become wrecked from moving the console while the disc is spinning, I'd remove em even when it's off to be safe.

Good Luck with your Xbox 360, it's an excellent console, and I was led to believe that the problems had been more resolved recently, there are still problems, but near the lauch date they were terrible!

Anyways I got Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter,(I'm fucking addicted to this game, I love war mission type games) Rainbow Six Vegas is a great fucking game as well. I also have Farcry, The Outfit and Gun but I haven't tried these ones yet. I might sell them or trade them in for NHL 07, Fifa 07, or Gears of War cuz this game looks insane. Hopefully X box 360 comes out with Counter Strike Source cuz counter strike on x box live was sick too.

For what it's worth, you can buy cooling units for the XBox 360 to help and cool it down, some have fans and some are liquid cooling systems, I've heard mixed stories about these, some say they improve things, some say they do nothing and some even say that they broke their 360. But you might want to look into those.

yeah Rivers Cuomo I have half life 2 and 1.6 but somethings wrong with my steam. I bought a new hardrive and now everythings fucked up. It doesn't finish downloading. It just gets stuck and I tried everything that the support team told me and it still doesn't work. So I'm pissed about that.
