Hi everyone!!! I'm a person you'll probably never meet, from a place you'll probaby never visit. Before I heard the Smashing Pumpkins, I could never see why everyone was so obsessed with popular music. I found most of it boring (I actually still do), and the only bands I had even a mild interest in were Green Day and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Then one day I saw the Pumpkins performing on Saturday Night Live, and I was surprised to find that I actually liked the music. A lot! Enough so that I became very interested in them. This hardly ever happened! Later on, I bought Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and finally, I found a band that I could truly say I loved. I instantly transformed into an obsessive SP fan, and there were long periods of time when they were the ONLY thing I listened to. Even though my musical tastes are very limited, I have since branched out and discovered many other decent bands, and have found a few others that I can regard as my favorites (Sonic Youth, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Radiohead, The Cure), but The Smashing Pumpkins will always be my #1. Billy Corgan's lush, emotive power will never be equaled, as far as I'm concerned. The Smashing Pumpkins has become a part of my daily thoughts, and I'm forever grateful to Billy Corgan for introducing such beauty into my life.

Hmm.... I was the same way with Pink Floyd... I used to think music generally sucked because my only taste of it was all this boring stuff on the radio.... then my friend gave me a copy of The Wall and I became obsessed with Pink Floyd for a while...

The next non-Pink-Floyd album I got was Mellon Collie, and I've been totally hooked to The Pumpkins ever since...
