A friend recently introduced me to this band, Blackfield, a side project of Steve Wilson from Porcupine Tree. I heard the first two Blackfield albums now, and I really don't know what to think of it. It sounds very accessible and atmospheric at times, with kind of corny lyrics...
I really haven't got a clue, should I love them or hate them? Anyone heard their albums and wants to give his opinion?

Iv got a few ;porcupine tree albums and i like them alot, other than that i know nothing

he's also supposed to be on the new Dream Theater album, but knowing the members of DT, they'll only include him for like 30 seconds

I don't really like dream theatre, nor am I a fan of porcupine tree (though I think "Trains" is an awesome song). It's just that the blackfield album has some nice tunes and some nice lyrics, but the combination of THOSE tunes with THOSE lyrics is just unacceptable sometimes imo.

yeah I agree, but I'm not really into metal, not even progressive metal. Also, I was wondering, porcupine is often referred to as "progressive", but what exactly makes them progressive?
