Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the debut album from Cold War Kids is pretty good,i saw them on the pumpkins myspace and thought i would check them out, got their album, i think its prett decent, some realy tight bass lines

I don't recommend listen to new music, most is crap, although there's some good. (Like Muse, Bjork, etc.)
Listen to 80's goth, like Fields of the Nephilim or This Mortal Coil. Billy was inspired by a lot of that music. He cited Bauhaus as an influence.

I wouldn't call Bjork new... well, I guess she does have a new album coming out.

My two favorite bands! I think it's really interesting that for both bands, their fourth studio album was a departure from the mainstream public, and a challenge to the fans.

and Neon Bible is maybe a little less than Funeral, but I still think it has some great songs that make it worth to spend your money on Arcade Fire.

Rather Ripped is fantastic, and I actually think that Neon Bible is better than Funeral. Although, I think Funeral would be a better place to start with the Arcade Fire.
