Essentially, Avril's new single (which happens to annoy the FUCK out of me) "girlfriend" Sounds like a song from the 70's band the Rubinoos, and she's getting her ass sued. I remember a couple years ago when she hit it really big, I would hear her songs on the radio and think to myself, " At least she's the anti-Brittney Spears." But FFS! Has anyone seen the mv for "girlfriend"? She has fucking dance routines! I was actually dissapionted, as a Canadian, to witness her going from a pop star to a skanky popstar.
What do you guys think?

I think young artists as Avril should just focus on the music, not bullshit about how much they hate Britney Spears etc just to end up like her anyway ...but that's the thing, isn't? this kind of artists need the bullshit to sell their music, it's just happen to be different to each one: for Britney was 'I'm a good, innocent pop princess' for Avril was 'I'm so punk, I'm pissed off all the time, FUCK YOU AND FUCK BRITNEY SPEARS' i don't know how she's selling herself right now but mustn't be quite an achievement if she is doing the same thing she talked shit against when she started

As for Avril Lavigne, the new album is pretty much crap and "Girlfriend" makes me want to break something. But back in the day, when she first came out, Avril's music -- I won't try to tackle the "immapunk!" issue -- was a refreshing change from the Britney/Christina/Jessica Simpson genre. Her first two albums are actually quite good, with the exception of a few tracks. (I prefer the songs that didn't become singles.)

One more note: not all music has to be revolutionary and life-changing. Avril's certainly isn't. Sometimes it's okay to listen to it "just for fun."

yeah, whoever wrote the song (which most probably wasnt avril) had in mind that the main purpose of this song was to turn young teenage girls into sluts. it wasnt at all to get money or sell more records.
