Most of you may have heard of this alternative rock band Sonic Youth. They were created 7 years before the pumpkins.

Songs i like: Teen Age Riot, Incinerate, Schizophrenia, Unmade Bed

I love Sonic Youth! One of my favorite bands! Favorite albums I've heard so far by them include "Sonic Nurse" and "Rather Ripped".

Well, i realy love dirty, rather ripped and daydream nation the most, but i love all their albums.

Believe it or not I just discovered sonic youth last week (I know I'm late) But they rock! It makes me think of how good zeitgeist could have been. Anyhow, YEAH I LOVE SONIC YOUTH.

That's how I got into SY. Kim Gordon. She's my girlcrush. She's 50-something and still such a potent presence! I love Dirty, Experimental Jet Set Trash and No Star, and Rather Ripped. Saw 'em in concert at Coachella maybe 4 years ago. Stunning. Thurston Moore turns guitars into buzzsaws and fiddles. Awesome, energetic, timeless. YAY.

and what can I say, Goo and EVOL just blow my mind. "Unmade Bed" is my favorite song from their later years...the whole album Sonic Nurse just soothes me (I guess that's what it's named for )

i luuuurve sonic youth. ive seen them twice now, theyre awsome live. i got into them thru Hole, who i started listening to at 12. courtney had kim produce 'pretty on the inside' when they were still pretty much just an underground band (hole that is) the letter is pretty funny ("Dear miss kim"..my favourite albums are 'experimental jet set, trash and no star', 'goo' and 'dirty'

i think a better name for this thread and threads like this (just for future reference) would be 'sonic youth apprecition thread'...so people get it and it doesnt seem so random...and then it can be longstanding and pulled up whenever someone wants to post an update on the band or just chat about them more....bel i CANT believe u just found sonic youth! but good job. hope your still loving the pixies!!!

I saw them last summer. they opened for the flaming lips. they were subpar...
kind of sad because i like them alot...

They're my fourth favorite band. I like The Pixies better though. I have to say Goo is their best. That or Murray Street. I discovered them through my readings about Nirvana. They toured with them in '92 and got them to sign to Geffen.

im sometimes torn between the two but i think im loving the pixies more thesedays. i went and saw them with my boyfriend in march and that was pretty awsome
