I agree, using words like "fag" and "gay" when it's not appropriate annoys me to no end. You say words like that around here, and you'll get in trouble. Unless it's gay pride day, then everyone's saying it.

"Jew" is a racial slur in Texas? My friend is Jewish and she says it all the time-then again, she can get away with it because it his her religion.

yeah, I never understood the whole "Jew" thing either. We have it here in Colorado too.

Anyway, this isn't a word and it's somewhat off topic. But one thing I can't stand is when people will make up something and say it just to sound smart or thought provoking.

For example,
In my honors english class we're reading "The Bean Trees". And my teacher has us have book discussions everyday. Anyway, theres this one chapter when some guy leaves his pregnant wife and takes alot of stuff like a TV, food, all the books and magazines, etc. Well, he also took all the toothpaste in the house. So my teacher asks the class:
"Why do you think Angel (the man) took all the tooth paste?"
The answer obviously being that he took the toothpaste because he wanted to make life as hard as he could for his wife, some girl trying to act all smart and deep says:
"Maybe it symbolises that he wanted to "clean up" his life."
I dont know if that made sense to any of you but boy did that make me cringe. Luckily the teacher just shot down the thought by saying she was thinking too deep.
