Heard Radiohead? 10 Months ago

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had heard the new Radiohead album...the one u can buy on their website for whatever you want to pay for it. Also, I'd just like to say that I love to see a huge band making such a bold statement in music. If anyone hasn't heard and doesn't know what I'm talking about basicly Radiohead are between labels right now so they've released their new album online on their website and the best part about it is they let YOU, the consumer decide how much you'd like to pay for it. Yep, whether it's one dollar or a hundred dollars. I heard the band in an interview saying that they thought it would be cool to make people stop and think about how much music was worth to them. A fine experiment if you ask me. With that said has anyone heard it cuz I'd love to hear some feedback.

I was wondering this as well. I consider myself a moderate Radiohead fan and wasn't overly excited about a new album. I haven't downloaded it yet, but plan to sometime soon. I would like to hear comments as well.
BTW, NIN left their label a few months back, so you can expect to hear similar ideas from them in the future.
Not to get off topic here, but this raises another question. If you remember an interview from a few months ago, Billy said their contract runs out next year, and if they could they would release songs daily via the internet. So, a friend and I were talking about the way Radiohead released their album and paying what you want for it. So if SP let the fans do the same, how much would you pay? Would you get all you can for as little as possible, or pay the standard rate for an album?

This SP???....50 cents. Just enough to buy Billy a new bassist Truly - I never see Billy taking the Pumpkins2.0 in this direction. He's suffered dissappointment from his fans before so I dont think he would trust us enough to pull a move like this. This new SP is about generating revenue so its pretty unlikely that they would try something this bold in my eyes.

I have the new Radiohead, and I love it, just like the rest of their work. If you just read the lyrics... they amaze me.

My friend paid something like 10 bucks. Its not bad I'll probably get it soon as soon my computer is fixed. I think its an awesome idea and only bands like radiohead could pull it off. the pumpkins wouldnt be able to make this type of statement. If I heard Zeitgeist and then had to pay I wouldnt pay that much. Not in comparison to the other work. I would pay more for the Future Embrace. but thats just me.

I didn't pay anything for it. I used to love radiohead, but these days I start to think that they're overhyped (at least about what they put out now). Some of their older stuff is pretty genius, but the new album overall seems kind of blah to me upon my first couple of listens. no memorable melodies or anything.

i think that a donation-digital album is the stupidest thing in the world, but thats just because if i wanted to just hear the music i could download it myself, i want the actual cd and artwork, so i could listen to it on my oldschool stereo
and even now i have no reason to download the new album, id rather spend that much time downloading their older albums
but say if my favorite band decided to do this, id burn the whole thing and make the album work myself, and still probably not pay any money, just because they made music to listen to, not to buy... music is priceless

i love radiohead, one of the best live bands ive seen. when i saw NIN in sept trent asked if cds had gone down in price here as he's complained about it in australia before (we pay about $32aus for a new cd) everyone said "NO" so he said we could steal his music, make copies and give it to our friends! hahahaha. it was so funny

Yes, either December or January, In Rainbows will be in brick-and-mortar stores.
I paid nothing for the album, because as someone mentioned earlier, I think Radiohead's overhyped. (I don't think they're untalented. But I just don't think they're as impressive as everyone makes them out to be.)
Here's my review of the album: http://www.alarmpress.com/1381/music-reviews/radiohead-in-rainbows/
As for the Pumpkins going the same digital route, they did it before with Machina 2 but then we have that whole 90 million versions of Zeitgeist issue to contend with. I think it's too soon to speculate.

Last I've read they've made around ten million on it. I don't understand the donation deal. I guess they are trying to show record labels that they don't need them but if they didn't have a label they probably would've never got past Pablo Honey. I was really into Radiohead for the longest time. Then I got caught up in their messages and Thom Yorke's ego. Since I've started to ignore the political side of them they're music is much more enjoyable.
