And yeah, Jimmy Eat World is great.
I used to think their sound was too similar to the whole post hardcore/emo genre of the 00's.
But they created the sound and I think people stole it and made it shit.

No no no, tht was just a special day where house captains/prefects/other school leaders went to some show about being a "leader", we had to wear the formal uniform.

Being a year 13 at school means you get to (maybe even HAVE to) wear mufti. I'm not sure if that's downunder slang, but it basically means non-uniform.
