I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but...I think it sounds like a half assed album. It's only 49 minutes long and a few of the tracks are instrumentals, which we already got a shit ton of on Ghosts I-IV. The artwork is cool though and I like the message from trent.

I loved With Teeth, and after listening to The Slip it just made me want to listen to it again - so I did.
I like Discipline (sounds like it could have come from a With Teeth recording session), Echoplex & The Four of Us are Dying, which could have been on The Fragile.
I hope he puts more time into the next album though.

well its definately not their best. Try Year Zero or Downward Spiral if you can get hold of them; they'd be quite good introductions. Im personally a bit dissapointed with the new album though...
As a person who doesn't know much by NIN, (until recently I only had The Downward Spiral, which I downloaded ilegally ) I would reccomend it. I like it about as much as TDS, although I kind of like them more than each other (PARADOX!!) for different reasons, I like TDS because it takes aural misery to a new level, and I like The Slip, just... because...
I loved the Slip. I thought it was a good flowing relatively short album. I just like that it's really cohesive and when you listen to it all the way through it just works, it's much better all the way through as opposed to just listening to one or two songs by themselves. The best part about all this though, is that Trent Reznor is pioneering the way for a new distribution method for music. should be taking notes.
