• How do I Become a Buddhist?

Buddhist teachings can be understood and tested by anyone. Buddhism teaches that the solutions to our problems are within ourselves not outside. The Buddha asked all his followers not to take his word as true, but rather to test the teachings for themselves. ln this way, each person decides for themselves and takes responsibility for their own actions and understanding. This makes Buddhism less of a fixed package of beliefs which is to be accepted in its entirety, and more of a teaching which each person learns and uses in their own way.

Thats a good start. The most important thing to remember is that its not a religion; more of a philosophy on life that some people choose to live by to help better understand themselves and the world. Personally it never interested me but I know a few people who follow the ideas and are really happy people.

I found a book in my school library, and I'm borrowing it. It's pretty much as close as you could get to a "Buddhism for Dummies" book.

I think it's supposed to be used in a Buddhist school or classroom, cause it's got exercises and whatnot...

I think you could term Buddhism a religion if you use religion very loosely like a community of people who believe int ehsame thing but because it require faith or involve worshiping a God etc... I wouldnt call it a religion.

Yeah, I find it strange how it's the forth most most popular "religion" in the world.
