HAHA! Sorry guys I didn't mean to be a tease! I just was typing away not paying attention to time and then all of a sudden it was almost morning! Yikkes!
OK I need to give a bit of a feel for my room at the time. If you were in the center of the room facing North the door was in the upper left corner of the room, my bed was in the lower left corner with me facing the lower right corner that held a birdcage and two birds.
So the story starts out around 11 PM and everyone else was sleeping I was reading a book trying to go to sleep...but sleep was not coming on that night! I normally left my door closed I guess so that I felt I had my own space.
OK back story here. Everynight after everyone was tucked into bed I would hear footsteeps walking from the kitchen which was on a lower floor...walking around the corner...padding up the carpeted stairs and ending at my bedroom door (which was always closed). I always thought it was my imagination.
This particular night, for some reason I left the door open and I heard the footsteps making their nightly treck to my door...and nothing. Wheew I thought my imagination again. Then a minute later our of the corner of my eye I see a figure. I think it's my brother trying to annoy me so I just ignore him and pretend that I'm reading but my mind is on him standing there, and he is annoying me *laugh*. So I flip a page. Still he stands there in the door.
After a few minutes I say something along the lines of his going to bed. Still no answer...I flip another page and all of a sudden I start to worry. Maybe he isn't trying to annoy me and there is something wrong. I ask if he is OK and I look directly at "him" the figure is a little boy but in a sailor suit from the 50's or earlier and a little sailor hat...for some reason this does not connect in my mind. I still think it is my brother. I say his name in a worried way...
The boy starts to walk across my room from the door to the birdcage with his back to me, looking at the birds. I'm still worried because "my brother" has still said nothing. So I get out of bed and walk up behind him. I ask if everything is all right and tap him on the shoulder which is cold and clammy...my mind is still not comprehending at all that this is not my brother!!! The boy starts to turn around and right before I see his face he Vanishes! Then my mind really took it all in and connected it. Not my brother, not of this time...OK I touched a ghost..is that possible?
I never heard the footsteps again and funny thing it never scared me! I was facinated!
OK that is the first true story! What about you guys?

holy crap, that is crazy, it scared me just reading it. oh man. well i have one.
ok, i used to live in a big building, it used to be a hotel, about 50 or 60 years ago, and this is 10 years ago mind you, but they turned it into apartments, but the rent by the month kind, alot of older people lived there, and young people who couldn't afford alot, but all in all good people, no freaks and such. but the building was almost 100 years old when i lived there. it is in an old west type town, and has underground passages, where they used to have opimum dens, and most of the downtown area is connected by them. well, i got a job at the front desk, third shift, and had to "partol" the halls at night to make sure that everything was ok. once a man left a hot plate on, it was smoking and almost set the room on fire, so that was one reason.
one night on my patrol i was in a hall where a very old man lived, and he always went to bed very early, like at 7 or something, and i heard someone say something into my ear, very close, i didn't understand what it said, but i sounded as if it was right next to my ear. i turned around and there was noone behind me. i was a bit freaked, but put it off to a very overactive imagination. then a few days later, on a night off, i was in bed, laying on my side, about to fall asleep, the room was dark, save the light from the street through the curtins, and i felt a heaviness on my arm. like a cat laying on you, exactly like that, and i tried not to turn my head, but i opened my eyes, and there was a dark mass about the size of a cat on my arm. i closed my eyes and waited. the heaviness left, and the shadow was gone. then i was out on the balcony, i lived on the third floor, last apartment at the end of the hallway, and how the balcony was there was a door to my apartment, and one to the hallway, and i was standing out there, kinda hanging over like you sometimes do, with only half your body, and out of the corner of my eye i keep seeing people walk back and forth in front of the hall door, but they are coming and going from where my apartment is. i didn't really pay attention to the clothes or what they looked like, i went into my apartment to see if people were in there, and there was no one. i tried not to panic. but after i went into my apartment, i didn't hear anything, and i went into the hall and no one was there. i went to bed, and with the hurriedness of my second job i forgot all about it. well a few days after that i was talking with someone about the building, and they told me that the hotel used to be bigger, but there was a fire and they blocked off the burnt part. the burnt part was right past where my apartment was. freaked me out. big time. i moved not long after that.
second story.
where i live now is next to a civil war battlefield, and the house i live in is over 100 years old, and used to be the bording house for the railroad. i know i have a thing with old buildings. and everyone says this place is haunted. well i never saw anything, but i do hear footsteps upstairs when no one is up there, but i am not gonna go and check it out. but my husband and i were in bed, i was asleep, he was just about asleep, and he thought someone came into our room, he looks up and from the light in the kitchen he sees a civil war solider looking down at him. he didn't realize it at the time, and thought it was an intruder, and lept out of bed, and then the soldier disapeared. he hasn't been back, but i am always looking for him. i didn't wake up, cause i sleep like i am dead. nothing wakes me up, but the alarm, sometimes and my son.
that is it for now, but my husband has some more real life ones, and i will type them up here, cause they are good.

creepy.
i grew up in several haunted houses.
i will tell you about my Grandma's though, as i remember more details.
when i was little we moved to the town we live in now and stayed with my Grandma for awhile. she lives in this nice mobile home court that is basically just full of old people who just wanted to downsize into a smaller place, but still want there own place instead of going to the old folks home. my Grandma actually bought her place brand new too, so no one has lived or died there.
when we moved in i got to have what we call "the little bedroom". it is small, but cosy and i liked it. it use to be her sewing room, but she had converted it into a spare bedroom awhile back.
i had lived in a very old Victorian house before this so i was use to the all of the creeks at night, plus, i don't believe we were alone there either. but i use to lay awake at night in the little bedroom listening to the same peculiar racket each night. i asked my Mom about it and she told me that it was just the house settling. i told her that it seemed too loud, but she assured me that it was just because it was a mobile home.
the noise continued to perplex me though. it sounded as though someone was stomping through the living room and down the hallway all night. sometimes i would also hear particulary loud noises. it would sound as though someone was tromping on the roof and scraping the sides of the house. it always bothered me and started to really frighten me at night as i always felt like there was something there. the fact that the tv and the radio would come on by themselves during the day didn't help either, but my Grandma was just convinced there was just an electrical problem.
one time they decided that i could "camp" in the livingroom and sleep on this little matress. it was fun for awhile, but as the living went to bed something else began to stir. i kept feeling like i was being watched and i would stare into the hallway. as the night progressed though i noticed a strange flicker by one of the bedroom doors. i knew the light wasn't on, but as i looked closer i noticed the figure of a man in an old fashion hat standing there. i just stared at the figure until it seemed to go away. because i was tired and it seemed like a more comfortable explanation, i just convinced myself that it was just my imagination and i went to bed.
i saw this same figure a few times later on though and i became more convinced that it was not just my imagination. plus, the tv and the radio were still turning on by themselves occasionally and the nightly tromping continued. my Grandma actually called the electric department and had them come out a couple times. they examined the house and took some readings. they registered an energy disturbance there, but, despite their efforts, could never find a source.
we eventually moved out and although i remembered all of the things i had seen and heard, i began to forget what it was like to be there after nightfall. once i had graduated highschool though, my Grandma had decided that i should stay with her because i could live rent free instead of paying a dorm fee. we all knew it wouldn't work because my Grandma can be a bit much at times, but i had to go stay with her for awhile anyway just so we didn't hurt her feelings. so i "moved" into the back bedroom at the end of the hall.
i decided moving in that i would give the house a second chance if you will. i decided to put all of those childhood memories of strange noises and apparitions behind me and to just take it as a normal old house with nothing spooky. i slept fine the first night, but then i began to notice the same noises- the tromping, the stamping, the clawing. i also got that old sinking feeling i use to get when i walked down the hall as a child. there was just something about that part of the house that made me feel strange. it was as if the whole energy of that area was off somehow.
late one night while sitting in the back in my room i heard a huge crash. it was as though someone had toppled over my Grandma's glass cabinet full of knick-knacks. it sounded like glass shattering and i was worried that my Grandma had got up and bumped something. i rushed down the hall into the livingroom only to find everything silent and unstirred. my Grandma was sleeping, the lights were off, and everything was in its place. i looked outside just to make sure nothing was going on, but all was quite there as well.
i wasn't frightened exactly, but i was a bit more apprehensive about being there. i began to think that my initial childhood assumption was right- the house was haunted. i would still sit in the dark in my Grandma's livingroom though and watch tv. i had a fan pointed on me one night as it was in the middle of the summer and hot as hell. i turned it off though, as it was getting a bit chilly. i had it plugged in down the hall in the little bedroom still and it had been off for several hours when all of a suddden i heard a familiar whir. i looked at the fan and watched it turn on and begin to rotate by itself. i stared at it amazed for a moment and then i flipped the light on and went over to it. it is one of those fans with a button for lo, hi, and off- the off button was still pressed down. it also had that pin that controls the rotation- the pin was up. there was no reason why it should have popped on by itself- it was off and it wasn't set to rotate.
this all began to bother me- the crash, the fan, the footsteps- so i broke into my old routine. i hurried away from the dark parts of the house and kept the light on more. little did i know what i was to see next.
it was a sweltering day outside, over 100 degrees. when night came it was still too warm and i had a hard time sleeping. plus, as some of you might have noticed by the times i post, i'm a bit of an isomniac- its after 2 am right now.
so i layed awake in bed for hours, turning about as it was to warm to sleep comfortably. i had pulled the sheet up over my face and was attempting to rest anyhow. as i layed there under the sheet i noticed things get brighter in the room all of a sudden. i thought maybe my Grandma had turned on the light or something. i pulled the sheet away from my face though and looked up only to see something much more disturbing. at the end of my bed was a figure hovering and throwing off a luminous light that lit up the room. its eyes were dark and hollow and it just stared at me for a second before disappearing in a burst. i layed there almost paralyzed not knowing what i had just seen. i evetually quickly grabbed a flashlight and turned on all of the lights and sat there unable to rest until day had broke.
to this day only my little brother believes me as he too saw the man who stalks the house at night. the rest of my family prefer to find a "logical" explanation though.
i'm not sure if this apparition is one in the same with the man, but i do know that i want to be no where near my Grandmother's once the sun dips and gives way to the night, as darkness seems to stir something that defies explanation within those walls.

Wow spooky-was the house built on ancient ground..something there before her home?
I have seen a ghost 2 times same one
at my mother's old house I was laying in my room with no door at the time. All alone reading a book (homework)when all of the sudden something ran by my room. It caught my eye and it appeared to be a little boy with overall knickers on and a red head of hair cut like a bowl hair cut. 1800's dated clothes I guess?
Then a few years later I saw him again while I was doing dishes and I had a friend over and she was like what is that standing next to you and out of the corner of my eye I saw him again for like 2 seconds..She was freaked out..I laughed
I also was laying on my bed with a friend (we'll call him that)middle of winter not under any covers and wham we feel this cold as breeze on our legs-no fan nowhere and my door was already closed. scared him...lol
Had a phone call easter Sunday at 10:26 a.m. 1992 I think.
Well whenever the old school caller id boxes came out from the phone company...anyways I got a phone call and the caller id said 666-666-6666
WTF? I had to answer this. My mom was like no don't, but I did and it was some weird voice saying let me speak to the owner. I was like this is he said no it's not and was getting mad..wouldn't tell me who he was kept asking for the owner and I kept lying & saying I was...my mom was too scared to take the phone. So I call the phone company to find out about that # it does not exist, and no phone call was made to my house that day during that time..no listing of that call....

yes it was scary, but interesting. I am glad I have had those experiences that's for sure, but not so much the creepy phone call. All of that happened at the same house..she's moved since. That house was old old.
I also have another story to share, but I am too embarrassed by it-only about 3 people know...it's the voice thing Billy & the radio speaking type thing...but totally not that
at least he can blame the radio

tooo cool! I have chills you guys!!
OK Reggae so you won't be embarrassed about your experience I will share one that may be similar. It is still in the same house (there were sooo many different experiences there!) as the first experience.
OK I was a bit older, in Junior High, with this experience and I had a diffrent room. My dad and uncle built two rooms above the garage one was a bedroom and the other was kind of a rumpus room with a tv and sofa. They connected, the bedroom was walled off and the other room was open to the stairs that had also been built leading to the house.
There had been a school dance that night so I was watching TV on the sofa trying to unwind (the door to my bedroom was shut) kind of laying there The Son of Svangoolie (spelling?) was on. I fell asleep and you know how you keep on kind of waking up and then drifting off and waking up again? Well I did that a couple of times...the last to the National Anthem as the station was going off the air. I thought to myself I should go to bed...but then I was too comfy so thought better of it. I fell asleep again...
..this time I woke to the freakiest voice ever saying my name...I thought oh this has to be a dream...so back to zzzzz...then I heard my name again louder and I snapped awake. I ask the voice "who are you" and it says "The Devil" I'm thinking to myself no way! I ask what it wants and it says "I want you (insert name). Same freaky voice. OK The voice is coming from my room behind the closed door and I'm like "no way, sorry I'm already claimed!"
*grin*. I throw the blanket over my head so I don't see what ever it is the voice is coming from and I jump off the couch ready to run down the stairs and lock the door. But my left leg is completely asleep so I fall on the ground (no joke..though it is funny looking back) there was no feeling in that leg. so I hobble down the stairs lock the door and sleep on the family room couch..for the next two weeks until my dad made me feel guilty about not using the space he had built for me. He got so mad at me but I wouldn't share the why of it with him ever. I'm only sharing it here so that you don't feel embarrassed. I sware I thought it was my brother playing a trick on me with speakers and things but there was no way. That house was really strange.
Actually, one morning after my cousin spent the night I was going to brush my teeth and found my brother and cousin sleeping in the upstairs bathtub! I woke them up and they both started telling me about the ghost of a woman they saw in his room...she was floating in the air...we were scared. Ummm...so why are you sleeping in the tub? Well it seemed like the safest place....

that's creepy...I was hearing my mother call my name on many occaisons. One time she was home and I kept saying what?, what? I heard her call me and she was like No I didn't call your name. So we went back and forth and I was like quit trying to make me seem crazy. Then when no one was home, but just brushed it off as thought of my mom. Another time was here in the house me and my hubby bought. I was upstairs in my room and I heard that damn voice of my mom's again and I said What the F*** do you want? Leave me alone..Haven't heard my name again....yet... Now I want to.
I regret asking it to leave me alone or what ever it was...
oh well one day again if I am lucky
It's so weird when it happens too-when I look back on the situation. I was always wide awake

that is strange.
i have another one, and then tomarow i will get my husband to tell me his so i can type them up.
but my mother in law is one of the most straight laced people in the world, and she never lies. and this is the story that she told to me.
at the house that they live now, it is on a property that they have owned for a long time, but never lived there till about 10 years ago. they built a small house and moved in. when they moved in she started hearing voices, she couldn't understand what they were saying, but she knew that it wasn't anything that she should be hearing. and it went on this way for a while, when it was really quiet she would hear crying, and yelling, strange noises. she finally got tired of it, and told my father in law about it. well, the next info scared the crap out of her. they were living next to a native american burial ground. it was not on thier property, but behind it. he had known it for a long time but didn't tell her because he knew she would be scared. so she is hearing all of these sounds, like war cries and crying of sad people, and doesn't know why, but then she finds out that is the reason why. and she still hears it every day. i talked to her on the phone the other day, and she wants to move because she wants the noise to stop.
i feel sorry for her. cause when i am there i can't hear it.
oh, do you all think animals can see ghosts, the ones that we can't see? cause my animals act wierd sometimes, like they are looking at someone, and there is nothing there, it freaks me out bad.
