Best of 2008 (so far) 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
The best of 2007 album lists inspired me to make this thread. What have been the best albums, songs and movies of 2008 so far (let's say, a top five for each)?

Albums:
*Sigur Ros - the album title I absolutely cannot be arsed to remember but the record is AMAZING (as per usual with them!)
*Panic at the Disco - Pretty.Odd.
*MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
*Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs
*The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing

(I also really dig She & Him - Volume 1, Alkaline Trio - Agony & Irony, and R.E.M. - Accelerate.)

Songs:
*MGMT - Time to Pretend
*Weezer - The Greatest Man That Ever Lived
*Ting Tings - Great DJ
*Does It Offend You, Yeah? - We Are Rock Stars
*Sigur Ros - Gobbledigook

Movies:
*Wall-E
*21
*Prince Caspian

(I haven't been to the cinema a whole heck of a lot this year)

Well, I don't think this year has been all that great for new albums so far. Although with new Amen, The Cure, Green Day, Basskniv3s, Dope, Tomatoes and Slipknot albums due in the next few months, the rest of the year could be quite special. There could even be new albums from Jello Biafra (either with the Melvins or his Axis of Evil Merrydoers - maybe both), which would be nice.

Albums:
Goldfinger - Hello Destiny...
Alkaline Trio - Agony & Irony (deluxe)

Really those two are the only ones I feel particularly worthy of mentions in a 'best of' list. I have bought other albums this year such as: Mercy by Ours and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace by The Offspring - decent albums, but I'd hope for 10 better by the end of the year.
I didn't actually realise I'd bought so few great albums this year (I have been buying a lot of older albums, so I guess that disguised it). Looks like the last 5 months should give me way more great music than the first 7 have managed.

I don't really do 'songs' so, ummm...
Superchrist, as it's probably the only song I've got this year that isn't part of an album.
Oh, and The Cure's b-sides - Down Under and All Kinds of Stuff are really good.

Movies...
Indiana Jones 4 (by far the best I've seen this year)
Kung Fu Panda
Prince Caspian

That's about all I can think of, but I'm very excited about the new X-Files movie which is out soon

Albums:

The Slip - NIN
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (copied & pasted, heh...) -Sigur Rós

For individual songs, basically all of the tracks on those two albums (Echoplex from The Slip is only one I'm not really keen on). And Superchrist.

Movies:

The Orphanage
Son of Rambow
No Country for Old Men (dunno if that counts, but it came out this year over here)

Apart from that, I've mostly been disappointed by films recently. The "big ones;" WALL-E, Hellboy, etc. still aren't out in the UK.
I'm also waitin' on The Dark Knight.

The only albums I have, or even collections of songs I have released 2008 are these:

Superchrist - SP
AOL Sessions - SP
American Gothic - SP
Gobbledigook (single) - Sigur Ros (I listened to the album streamed online)
Four songs that I myself recorded.
Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV

There isn't a hell of a lot to rave about there..

Crap, I forgot about American Gothic. I know it's only an EP but it should be number 3 on my list, as it's worthy of being listed.

Gah! I totally forgot about Indiana Jones.

For movies, the best is yet to come. Dark Knight. X-Files. TROPIC THUNDER looks fricken hilarious. Who knew that Robert Downey Jr. was such a funny guy? The Curious Case of Benjamin Button sounds very interesting, too.
