Brett Favre 2 Months, 1 Week ago
|

I'm going to regret bringing this up, because I am from Wisconsin, and I'm a huuuuuggge Brett Favre fan, even after all of these events this year.
And now he is a New York Jet.
Discuss? Just... for my sake, be a little gentle?

Gentle? Here's gentle. Brett Favre is a big, whiney, indecisive, sneaky, manipulating, Cher-like bighead who can't decide when to end his own damn soap opera. Granted, Brett is a great player and will always be looked upon as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but come on. Enough with this already. He's been doing this crap since the 2004 season. And I really, REALLY thought it was over when he gave his (seemingly) sincere, heartfelt and tearful final farewell press conference. But everyone was wrong yet again, and Brett is now back.
I honestly don't think Favre is a bad person. I just think he needs to learn how to make up his damn mind. He jerks around the league, his teammates, and his fans when he waffles and flip flops after every season. I hope now he's satisfied to be a Jet. I like the Jets. Albeit a little bit less now. And hopefully he'll play out his career in New York, because I think we're all getting sick of this.
However, zerohero84, I feel bad for Packers fans like yourself. Every Pack fan views Favre as one step down from Jesus (and understandably so) and it can't be very easy on the heart when your favorite player is considering retirement, then comes back, then retires, then comes back, leads the team to an unlikely dream season, then retires again for the final time, then comes back, then gets traded. Just be glad you've rid yourself of his drama. He won you a Superbowl, he'll be an icon forever, and that's that.
In other news, Aaron Rodgers is one hell of a quarterback.

it'll be interesting to see how well aaron rodgers does... if he starts to choke, they're going to wish they'd never made that trade to the jets.

Yeah, I'm a Packers fan and Favre fan as well...he's pretty much the reason I started liking the Packers, so to see him go to another team sucks, but I hope he does well with the Jets.
Also, I think it was mostly McCarthy who didn't want Favre back with the Pack because he said Favre was all for open competition for the starting QB job between him and Rodgers, but that he didn't think Favre was in the right mind-set...but if he was up for competing for the starting job, how wouldn't he be in the right mind-set? I think he was pretty much going with Rodgers as the starter either way and didn't want to have an open competition and that's probably why Favre felt unwelcomed and left practice before it started.
But now, he's a Jet and says he's not certain he'll even retire after this year, so we'll see what happens...Jets/Packers Superbowl anyone? Unlikely, but if it did happen I don't even know who I'd want to win...probably the Packers since they're my favourite team, but Favre's my favourite player, but a team's more than one guy.

For sure, but I think Rodgers will do fine...the Jets just released Chad Pennington after getting Favre, so maybe the Packers will sign him in case.

I commend the Packers for sticking to their guns. The easy way out would have been just to bring him back and tell Rodgers he's out of luck for another ___(fill in the blank)____ years. But they've put the future of the team in Rodgers. As great as Favre was, he's the past now. That happened when he went in front of the world and cried his way through his farewell speech. He's got to learn to live with that now. Favre seems to think he's above it all because he's the allmighty Brett Favre. Once you make a decision and commit to it, there's no turning back, no matter who you are. He told the Packers he was done, and they moved on. This could go down in history as the most lopsided trade in sports ever, though. The Jets get the all-time leading passer in every major category, and the Packers get a 4th round draft pick that is likely to amount to nothing.

It's actually a conditional 4th round pick and can be increased to a 1st rounder if Favre plays in 80% of the plays and the Jets make the Superbowl. It'll be a 3rd rounder if he plays in 50% of the plays, or a 2nd rounder if he plays in 70% of the plays and the Jets make the playoffs.

brett favre is a great quarterback but he made his own damn bed now he has to sleep in it, for 3-4 seasons now aaron rodgers has sat on the bench without saying anything its his turn to play now, favre retired end of story then he pulls this shit than he wanted to be traded to a divisional rival in the form of the minnesoata vikings why to spit in the packers face, the ultimate fuck you to the team that made him a legend i don't feel sorry for him at all aleast the packers are a contender even now with rodgers who hasn't played one game in the nfl favre is going to wish he stayed retired because the jets are in the same division with tom brady and the great new england patriots they have NO CHANCE IN HELL OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS
GO PATRIOTS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Jets will make the playoffs with Favre, along with the Patriots from that division.
