This time it's in Beijing, China. Already, several things have happened:
1. The little girl singing in the opening ceremony wasn't really singing. She was lip syncing to another girl's voice-apparently the original girl wasn't "pretty enough" to be shown on television. Chinese Officials have stated this.
2. Some of the fireworks were digitally produced, they attempted to put real fireworks up there, but the smoke made it difficult.
3. The Spanish Basketball Team is in big trouble. There's a picture of them making "slanted eyes" while on the court. You can see LA Laker Pau Gasol in the picture.

Well, I did watch the opening acts, and thought there were some rather amazing workings behind it all! So beautiful, though I did find it a tad bit odd to have used computer graphics for certain things...

I haven't watched the games yet though.

i thought the opening ceremony was really neat myself. i don't really care about the digital fireworks, but the little girl thing was pretty retarded. i saw a pic of the other one too. she's just a little kid- not ugly or anything. plus i don't think people care. if you put a little kid up there and have them sing a little song everyone will be- awww, how cute- pretty much no matter what.

I hope some Tibeten protesters manage to pull of a cool stunt and China end up with egg on its face.

Don't forget the volleyball coach’s father-in-law being murdered while in China. And the Chinese breaking the age limit of 16 and putting a 13 year old girl on the gymnastics team. Way to go China

I just watched Mahe Drysdale rowing the 2000m, it was pretty tense.

He started in last, crept up to first, then in the last 250m he fell back to third.

I'm still really happy especially considering that he apparently had a very bad stomach bug.

Shawn and Nastia both did wonderful in the all around, though I felt really bad for Alicia Sacamone. I can't imagine how she must have felt after falling on the beam and floor.


and what about PHELPS? seriously, the man is a freak of nature. Winning by one one hundredth (.01) of a second last night to tie mark spitz for the most gold medals ever won in a single olympic games, that's something they're going to talk about for the rest of olympic history.

oh, and don't forget Togo winning their first medal EVER!

The U.S. Men's basketball team won the gold metal. The players included Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Kobe Bryant. They played against the Spanish team which LA Laker Pau Gasol was in-as well as his brother Marc Gasol who also won the MVP for the Spanish team.

Argentina came in third winning the bronze mental.

Closing ceremony is tonight with Jimmy Page performing.
