In all honesty, Muse will never reach the level that Radiohead is at.
What I mean by this is that Thom Yorke could record himself shaving a hamster and it would go platinum 14x.
And that's not a good thing.

That's unfair, Creep is their most overrated song. It's actually one of the most overrated songs by any band.
It's also unfair that you put down Radiohead like that, they are a big influence on Muse.
PistolPete, do you have anything negative to say on Muse? Or are you neutral?

Another thing on Radiohead, if they kept churning out rock records and rock songs, I'm sure it would have got old, and they would be another nostalgia act.

I don't think people can handle the negative.

Among the band's influences there are Nirvana, Radiohead, Queen, Sergei Rachmaninov, Franz Liszt, Depeche Mode, Rage Against the Machine, Oasis, Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Rush, Jimi Hendrix and U2.

Many critics of Muse often cite Radiohead as an influence or a sound-alike of Muse, though no members of Muse have ever claimed to have been influenced by them, and fans generally consider all similarites to be vague, and that they were dissolved with the release of Origin of Symmetry. Some similarities may include the similar singing style and vocal range of Matt Bellamy and Thom Yorke, and the progressive rock influences in both bands' music.
Matthew Bellamy: "There's two things that make me understand why we've been compared. Thom Yorke is influenced by Jeff Buckley, and John Leckie produced "The Bends" and John Leckie also produced our album. But, when people see us live, they see that we're more of a rock band."
people consider them to be an influence because they sound similar, but muse does not consider them an influence

I have never really listened to Muse. I did hear a song on the radio a while back that I loved from them, I just don't know what it was. Maybe I should give it a listen. I loved the lead singer's voice.

And I never said it was. Whether they were world-renowned or local, I'd have the same appreciation for their music, personally.

I totally agree with this. Popularity is based on all of the radio listeners who hear their one single.
Besides that, I think it's absolutely insane to think that you can compare two bands by listening to just one of each band's songs.

Yeah, you could compare 1979 to a lot of bands' most popular songs, but you would have a much better contending Pumpkins track if you weren't going by what sold the most.
