So my ipod video 5gen broke, so i took it to the apple store, where after five minutes of passing around from employee to employee, was labeled counterfeit. they asked if i had it brought to best buy and i said yes, i had. turns out when i went to send my ipod in for service at best buy, they replaced it with a counterfeit ipod. The serial number is not an apple video serial number, and it is a different serial number than what comes up when it is plugged into itunes. So i went to another apple store to get confirmation. It is a fake and the hard drive inside has a serial number for an 80 gig ipod, where mine was really thirty gig. Apple had to give me an ipod that matched the serial number so i got a Free 80 gig Ipod! plus, a family friend is a lawyer and he said we should ask for 3x the amount paid for the original ipod, so 900ish bucks!
just thought this was interesting, anyone ever have this happen to them before?

that is very kick ass!
I wish I could get my iPod replaced with the next generation. It's nothing to do with the appeal of "ooohh look it's got a flippin' touch screen! omg I'm going to cum with excitement!!11!" but they are probably a lot better in terms of performance.
I can buy a next gen 80gb iPod for about 200 bucks less than my 5th gen 30gb iPod.

no actually my best friend has the new 'ipod classic' and its always freezing up on him. its a pain in the ass,cause it freezes up, then like spazzes out for a few seconds then it works fine. and its brand new!

wow that really sucks teej. i don't envy that position. i would be very pissed. I really don't know what you can do in that situation...
