Teej, hope things work out with you and your lady!
Oh, man, to all those folks on the one end of that unrequited crush, I'm on the opposite. I've got feelings for a very close male friend but I just don't have the gall to express my attraction. I've seesawed between NEEDING to tell him to being very grateful for the platonic friendship we have and shrugging off these silly emotions.
And, oh, did I mention that he's my roommate? Haha. I actually thought about mentioning the situation in this topic a while back, but I've learned in the past that announcing one's innermost feelings on the Internet can be mega-stupid. But at this rate, if he doesn't know that I like him, he's pretty oblivious.

I was in the same situation many years back. One mf my very best guy friends admitted he was in love with me one night when he was real drunk. He was a nice guy and I was totally turned off by that at the time. I was in to the bad boys and was dating a friend of his that ended up cheating on me. A while after that I started dating this other bad boy and I ran into my friend and he was still crushing on me but I was a total bitch to him. Looking back on things now, I can see how great he was and I find myself wondering how he is.

shouldn't we express are feelings? I mean if someone says no, it's not the end of the world and if a friendship goes sour from it, then were they really your friend? We shouldn't have to hide our feelings about anything because of what someone else thinks, but we do.

well after 32 years of livin' you can't be afraid of it...
and yes I have been rejected, it's just as you get older it really doesn't matter....
it's just the word no.
We know this guy who is scared as hell to let any woman know how he feels because he is afraid of rejection. Well what's worse the word no, or getting a really horrific disease that will kill ya? a no isn't so bad when you think about it

if this isn't a rejection then what is...
I was 17 had a baby and the daddy rejected me and his son
so...16 years later still rejecting his son
and not to mention my son currently thinks my hubby is rejecting him now too.
Gotta love my Pisces son
how bad can a no be from a person of your interest...

Oh man, the friend zone is definitely the worst.
I'm in a similar situation with a girl at work; we've been flirting with each other for a bit now, but it sucks because she has a boyfriend (they broke up for like 2 days but I was too much of a pussy to ask her out). Now I'm thinking of telling her that if she and her boyfriend break up again to give me a call or something.

I am pretty much that guy...I know I shouldn't be because it'll keep me from ever getting a girlfriend again unless a girl I like asks me out...how can I break this fear of rejection?

just go for it. You won't feel any relief until you do, either A she's ok with what you say or B she's not, but you'll never ever know unless you try
put it this way you could end up like our friend who never has a woman and if he is getting some ass, it's because the married chics aren't happy.
not to really be mean, but part of me thinks he is deep in the closet and maybe one day he will come out.
and by deep I mean he doesn't even know himself yet....
he's a nice guy, a little bitchy more so than the average man, so you don't want to turn out like him-believe me!!
his nick name is bitch, because he acts like a straight up bitch to whoever, probably why women aren't feeling him...too much like us
terrible on my behalf throwing his stuff on here, but no one knows him on here

I agree with Reggae, you should just go for it. You might get rejected, but everyone does at some point. It is very hard to do I know from personal experience, but it is better than moving on with your life and always wondering "what if?". If you keep being afraid of rejection you will end up all alone, or with someone you really don't want to be with. The more times you get rejected, the easier it becomes to deal with.

There's a guy who was on one of my lecture classes last spring semester. I kind of fell for him...hard.
So we chatted a few times...then I found out that he mostly likes pale girls with blond hair.
