Yeah, his death suprised me and affected me more than any celebrities death in a long time, probably because I though he'd never die.

Yeah I read about that this morning. I love the crocodile hunter! I was really surprised, beause you don't think if Sting Ray's as being deadly. A group of us went to Cayman Islands in 2000 and swam with sting rays on the reef, granted they were small ones, but they just told us the barbs could cut and hurt like hell. He must have gotten jabbed by a HUGE one for it to have punctured his heart. So ironic. . he spent most of his life putting himself in danger, and then something that would seem semi-benign killed him.

yeah, it is somewhat ironic, but it got him pretty good I suppose
he was a nice guy too, that's too bad, at least he died doing what he loved
it's a lot like the grizzly man's story

It is so very ironic because th Stingray is often called the Angel of the Sea, or something like that, it was on the news.

I think it's very sad, but I have a great deal fo resect for him, as he risked his life to learn and share his knowledge about exoctic beasts with the public.

Here is a stingray from the Cayman Islands. It's kinda crappy quality because I had to use one of those underwater disposable cameras, but. .

aye thats such a crappy way of dying.
i mean, dying in anyway sucks in general (DUH), but being stabbed by a stingrays stinger.....through the heart....arrrghhh
I used to watch this show for hours, and I thought he was the coolest guy ever, I even thought he was invincible at times, so his death really shocked me

Yeah, I think a lot of people had that "Invincible" perception of him.

mmm deaddy bones...very random person to die all of a sudden. the media coverage here has been huge. death was pretty much instant though which makes it a bit better i suppose. only like the 3rd person in Oz to die that way. my dad was saying that it was really fluky as in itd hit him pretty much anywhere else he could have lived. leg, lung etc, it just so happened that the spear went straight into his heart. very unlucky
pretty important guy so far as conservation. he recently purchased a huge amount of land here in australia that was/is? being turned into more conservation land for plants and animals. not just a pretty face

i actualy didnt like the man at all, he misrepresented the australian stereotype, becuase of him and a few others (crocodile dundee) the world thinks we are all dero's who ride to work on kangaroos and talk...like that. Having said that, i didnt exactly want him to die, he did some great work with conservation and the australian zoo, i feel deeply for his family, his children are only very small, it must be devestating to loose a father at such an age, and his wife as well, its always a shock to loose a loved one...
steve...maybe not to me, but to many many people, you will be missed mate.

before i met him i though he was an obnoxious loud mouthed dero, but thats just him i supose. i wasnt a HUGE fan of him but i did admire his love for animals and his capabiltiy to handle snakes without fear (i am TERRIFIED of snakes)
what i dont understand is only at the start of this year we were critising him of getting too close to the wild life (antarctica) and being a bad father (him dangling bob in front of a crocodile thing) and now we are acting like we never bad mouthed him and like we were always behind him. i guess we are just being respectful...

yeah i used to get pissed off by that but generally thats just peoples ignorance anyway if they believe that were all like that....you have to admit though we do have some bogans here haha
he was just really damn good at selling himself though, and i respect that, i genuinely think he was like that though, and knew how to use it for a pretty good cause
did u hear what germain greer had to say about his death? i consider myself a feminist but this woman pisses me off sometimes. and if you know enough about your identity you'd get over being embarassed by a celebrity. i personally find kylie minogue and the shit heads that judge idol more embarassing...and dont get me started on big brother
