I think it's kind of the feeling that some have that to be "cutting edge" mainstream is a nono. Or to deny something you love because it is mainstream, and you have an image to live up to...or an image you want to portray yourself as to the world. So he's gotten past the posing and comfortable with who he is. But just because someone dosen't love something dosen't make that person try to be anything. It just dosen't fit that person. So why pose at liking something to fit in either?

Just speculation though.

Frankly I lay all of who I am bare and if you like me good, if you don't so sad...if you are indiffrent that's cool too. But I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not.

Yeah. Sadly most artists aren't purely in it for the art these days. There are some out there, but it's hard to sift through the crap to find them.

You know with Rap how they take samples from different songs and create their own, pisses me off for some reason. Maybe because they just don't have a musical talent to get the notes they want out so they take it from other songs...Ugh I don't want to get into it. Drives me mad

it is kinda like that movie rockstar, with dreamy mark whalburg, at the end he is getting back to real music. kinda corny, but simaller.

dont get me wrong, i dont give credit to the actual singers, i know they have lyricists and producers and countless musicians that actually make the music. but the people who do that are professionals. i just dont like when they cookie cut. like i think ive said it before in another thread, but these days the pop music started being written with a lull somewhere towards the end, a thing that rock music started, usually before guitar solos or the outro. but yeah, pop music writers stealing that kinda pisses me off

sampling is artistic, its like putting a twist on something you like, like painting something in different colors or askew... people wouldnt bash andy warhol for painting marilyn monroe, saying he couldnt make the shapes himself...
