CDs are great. And they are much higher quality than mp3s (well, not much higher if it's MP3s at 320kb/s but most online stores sell them at 128 or 192 at best). FLAC can be higher quality (but not if it's ripped straight from CD).

I have nothing against vinyl at all, but in terms of sound quality I find it hard to accept it's better than CD. There's all that crackling for a start...

All I'm saying is digital audio has its place its great sharing on the web and myspace has almost made the demo tape out of style, yeah digital audio is great for easy use and sharing...

Vinyl, Tape, and how can I not forget the Mellon Collie Machine, Even the Pumpkins are going back to manual audio.

Must of the audio you hear from when audio started to pro tools, every thing was done on a tape machine so its been compressed to fit on CD.

For audio I think we have a long way to go...

yeah, i agree. i use digital to preview stuff or i might just download something i just kind of like- you know if i just want a song or two. but if i am getting music from any of my favorites bands i buy a CD. i like having the whole package- album art and all.

In my opinion, i dont care what anybody says. It's almost impossible to tell the difference of quality between digitally downloaded music or music straight from a CD

when I finished my last recording, I rendered it twice, one as an uncompressed wave file, and another as an mp3.

mp3 bit rate: Constant Bit Rate of 320 kbps
wave bit rate: 6144 kbps

yes i know, on eBay u can find the lp, (and even cheap!) on amazon too sometimes,
but i was lookin'for the japanese version, that i finally found 2 weeks ago on amazon.jp ! hooray !
maybe i just had to learn japanese first, to find it !

Hey I have Gish on the original Caroline records release!

I play it all the time...I like vinyl because the sound is, for lack of a better word, thicker. It sounds so much more deeper and muddier. Just like I like it.

I hate the way my MP3's sound. I don't know a whole lot about this subject, but I definately like my CD's better. All this talk about vinyls and record players makes me want to get some. I used to have a record player when I was younger. I would go to my room and close the door and listen to the Cars and Bob Segar and Prince I miss that old record player.

i LOVE james' album. winter, one and two, and no ones gonna hurt you are such great songs. I also love all of the b-sides off of the be strong now single. i def. love james' more melodic and subtle style.

that brings back some good memories.. i LOVED prince and the cars growing up as a kid back in the 80s.

Yeah I have Machina on vinyl. Its the picture disc one i couldn't fin the normal 2 disc one but the picture disc one only has 10 tracks but the disc itself makes up for it .I also have Gish, SD and Adore on vinyl plus the two zeigeist singles but thats it for pumpkins vinyl. Damn now i want Let It Come Down on vinyl
