Not the song, but I was watching the History Channel the other day and maybe this is on youtube (it probably is because everything is) but supposedly a ton of prophets, ancient tribes, and the Bible all point to December 21, 2012 as doomsday. I didn't believe it and I really don't know what to think of that day now after hearing about how so different prophets all concluded on this date. Comments?
With a new president coming into office, there is no reason why our country couldn't take a turn for the worst. I don't know in what way this may be, but we are living in scary times. It's not unreal to think that a nuclear war could happen between now and 2012.
while its not unreal to think that nuclear war could happen, there have been doomsayers forever. There has been countless predictions about the end of the world from nostradamus, Da Vinci, and on and on.
The one thing they don't figure in, or don't allow for is the element of change. The predictions could only happen if everything occurs just as they predict. Since when has that ever happened? And if they have this knowledge, and others do as well, couldn't they/wouldn't they prevent it?
It's been a hell of a last few weeks. The cyclone in Myanmar, a huge earthquake in China, once again several tornadoes ripped through the midwest/south, and I think there was a volcano eruption somewhere in Chile. When several events like this occur it always makes me think...
I highly doubt that, but there is always a conspiracy theory for everything. The weather has been very erratic here too. In the past month we've had a tornado warning at least once a week.
isn't that the truth, there sure is a conspiracy for everything.
we even had a tornado touch down here sunday, which is really strange. Leave it to me to be out going through a fast food drive through just as it hit. I took shelter under a drive through bank til it blew over.
I don't see any conspiracy here. Humankind is f*cking up the earth, and if the world ends in 2012 as is predicted, I would say it's our own demise! Tornadoes in unusual places? Sounds like global warming (climate change) to me...
But! That's just me being cynical... Perhaps.
Anyway, I remember hearing from the Mormon Church,, at least when my mother was part of it, that the world would end in 2000, during the new millennium, Y2K. It didn't, obviously, and even though I had lost all faith in blind faith, it was still a mind catcher to me that perhaps things will just keep on going.
I don't really know where I'm going with this, but it's all my own thoughts.
I always heard about these weird things growing up. Like when 06/6/06 hit people thought that the world was going to end or that something was actually going to happen.
But think of it, 06/06/06, not every country in the world goes by this calendar, also each religion has it's different version of how the world is going to end.
Why do most Doomsday type movies always involve some type of chemical warfare or an incurable disease? Do people think that is the most likely end? I would think it would be the least likely.
The 12/21/12 date is based on the Mayan calendar. They didn't have a date beyond that. I think I may have seen the same Discovery Channel show about End Times. Something about how apparently cats and dogs are supposed to turn against their owners that day, and electronic appliances will come to life (I have had some gnarly dreams about precisely that! Eeek!)
I don't WANT to believe it (I mean, hey, we survived 1984 AND 1999, didn't we?) but there's a part of me who has been weary of that date since I first heard its significance last decade. I mean, I still have a lot more living to do, as far as I'm concerned!
