Me too. Best of the new songs so far, in my opinion.

But don't you all agree that so far all the songs could have been part of a great 2CD album? (except for NY Trip maybe).

Anyway, whilst I wait for the next single...

Any of you Cure fans have any "rare" songs? Most rarities are covered by Join The Dots and the re-release deluxe versions of the albums.

But I do have a few others.

B-sides from their self-titled album:
This Morning
Why Can't I Be Me?
Your God Is Fear
Fake

B-sides from the new album:
Down Under
NY Trip
All Kinds of Stuff

Out-take from Bloodflowers (released on a promo CD):
Spilt Milk

Dragon Hunters soundtrack:
Drangon Hunters Song

Charity thing for Darfur:
Love

Orgazmo soundtrack:
A Sign From God

Spilt Milk might be included on the deluxe version of Bloodflowers, if they ever get that far with the re-releases. I hear there are a few more studio quality out-takes from that album which I'd love to hear too.

Anyone else have any Cure rarities?

If you mean mainstream as in the popier singles, get yourself or listen to a copy of "pornography", "Seventeen Seconds" or "Faith"

"The Only One" is still my favorite of the new stuff.

Re:The Cure 1 Month ago
So the album's been delayed a month, so now is due on October the 13th On the bright side, an EP is coming out on September 13th comprising of 4 remixes of the singles. The next (and last) single is going to be A Perfect Boy, which there's a link to a live version of in this thread. Judging by my memory of the live performance (though I only listened to it once), it could be the best of the singles.

I got all this from Robert Smith's latest blog on MySpace. Possibly the most interesting comment was this:
"AND I NEED A BIT MORE TIME
TO PUT THE FINISHING TOUCHES TO THE ALBUM...
TO DECIDE ON WHAT SONGS MAKE THE FINAL CUT...
AND IN WHAT ORDER...
(frowns... wonders if a 17 song 80 minute album is a double... ?)"

So I guess that confirms that there will be no double album. An 80 minute 'epic' could still be cool, although if there's no double coming, I'd probably prefer one album of mainly pop stuff followed my a gloomy atmospheric rock album next year.

Re:The Cure 2 Weeks, 3 Days ago
I can tell you're all interested, and here it is again, new single time (well, for me anyway as I got this one a day early).

This time it's one that I heard a live version of a while ago, The Perfect Boy. Another good song - probably not catchy enough to do well as a single, but who cares? That's 4 singles and 4 good songs, so promising stuff for the album.
I'm not too sure about the b-side this time though (Without You). The singing style is a bit weird and initially off-putting. It might be one that grows on me the more I hear it (in fact I've listened to it about 4 times today and I would say I like it a bit more now than the first time I heard it).

And here's my updated list, putting the new songs in order of how much I like them from best to worst:
1. Down Under
2. The Only One
3. All Kinds of Stuff
4. Sleep When I'm Dead / The Perfect Boy
6. Freakshow
7. Without You
8. NY Trip

I wasn't aware of the progress of the Cure's new album, glad to hear about it though. If it means anything the Cure album that's most consistently in my fave place is 'Seventeen Seconds'

Ah, Seventeen Seconds is a great little album. Never quite making my first choice, personally, but I do like it a lot. My first choice is usually torn between Disintegration, Bloodflowers and Pornography. But then Wish, Seventeen Seconds, The Cure, Faith and Kiss Me are never far behind!
