i think that with the sinking of the statue and "smashing pumpkins" and "beta version" it is hinting at the end of the zeitgeist era maybe? or maybe just a change in the site design?

Okay, it's very clear now that this sybolism is real now.

First it was red and plain, identical to the album cover,

then it turned green and started looking rther swamped,

then it turned grey (at this point I thought it was coincidingwith the TTW(MLI) video)

Then The Statue of Liberty started looking a bit batterded nd broken (aeroplanes floating about, bombing it, finishing it off?)

Now it has definitely sprung something in my mind.

The statue sinking, the SP banner fallen out of the sky barely floating in the ocean, and it looks like a storm is about to happen.






Now, what could this all mean?

It's open to interpretation, definitely.

Having just looked at the site I'd agree with the previous suggestions. The "Beta Version" sinking suggests that what we've seen so far was just a "trial run" before the main event...

But whether that's referring to the website or the band themselves (possibly confirming that Zeitgeist was just a practice album and that they're planning bigger and better things) it's hard to say.
I'd like to think it's saying that the SP2 rehersal stage is done, get ready for the real deal!

i don't know whether it stands for the band or the site design, but interested in whats to come.

its kind of neat how they have changed it though.

It symbolises that the Zeitgeist era has finally come to an end!

also, people have commented on "The Smashing Pumpkins" is sinking and "Smashing Pumpkins" is floating. At first I was wondering what the hell they were talking about, but when I looked closely, with my face only a few inches away from the screen, you can see "THE SMASHING PUMPKINS" behind the statue.

That has got me very perplexed.

Well from what I could tell, those are melting ice caps in the background, which contribute to the "sinking" and "destruction" of the Statue of Liberty (civilization).

Beta version of the band? Sounds intriguingly awesome!

I thought the meaning of "Zeitgeist" was about whats happening now.
And at the minute it all feels like where all on one big sinking ship with all the financial/terror/gang problems.

I wonder if we could see a darker/gothic album on the way....dunno but thats my take on it.

Political music doesn't really float my boat (HA!)

It just doesn't bring the best out of Billy, he works best when he expresses his emotions through his music. Obviously political music can only bring out the "Blah blah every thing's fucked up" emotions, which has been done and dusted a million times before by other bands.
