Hello, Humans! 1 Year, 6 Months ago
|
|
Wow, you wouldn't believe how long I've lurked on this forum without registering. But! Upon the release of the much-anticipated full-length Tarantula, I simply couldn't hold my excitement and simply had to sign up...if only to vent my excitement upon fellow fans, who can appreciate this new micro-masterpiece (in the context of Zeitgeist as a whole) as much as I can.
It's funny, I've lurked anonymously around the forums for so long as I pretty much know most of you and your respective dispositions. Can't wait to start posting - see you around!

I've been on here a while, but I don't think too many know me, except for some from my postings. I'm Tom, 22, and I live in Central Wisconsin. Been a Pumpkin fan since I was 11, and I got to meet Billy in 2004 during one of his book signings.
Is there anyone else from Wisconsin (or near it)?

i've never introduced myself, i am miguel from mexico city im 20, i've liked the pumpkins since adore/machina era, of course i was to young back then to know what life was about, i was not as die-hard fan as i am today, but as i grew up i listened to more and more pumpkins, i remember listening to ava adore on the radio and reading in the newspaper "the pumpkins final show", im a guitar player, i have three bands, quattro an indie-rock-pop-punk-somethinglikethat band, Riverside a grunge band, and the wicked muffins a wicked band, i came here looking for bootlegs, (RSPAA its slow sometimes), and started looking what you said in the forum, i've never really liked forums, specially netphoria they seem very unfriendly and mean, for me its something like "we know everything about the pumpkins and fuck the rest". anyhow i joined some day a few months ago and started posting, you are nice people, and you really like the pumpkins , love beeing here, i check the site almost everyday, sometimes twice or more, glad i'm a pumpkins.net member

I suppose I should say my bit...
First song I heard and fell in love with was Today (or was it Disarm). That was back in January of 1995. I have gone through two cassette tapes of SD (haha) and 4 SD CDs... so I guess you could say I love that album, but really it just disappears, someone steals it or something.
And sad to say I've never seen them perform, live.
btw, I'm Julia, nearly thirty , from New Zealand.

Cant remember if i posted my story before, well...
It was back at the start of 2005, i had been pretty seriously depressed for nearly 6 months, i never realy cared about anything at all, nothing realy mattered to me at all. I was flunking at school (that bit hasnt changed ), and i was just watching tv one day and sure the infamous SP simpsons episode, i thought the band sounded cool so i thought i would check them out.
The next day i downloaded a few random songs, the first one that finished was spaceboy, i listened to it, and from the very first moment i knew there was something truely special about it, so much emotion and power. I know nowdays it is a cliche to say a band saved your life, but SP truely did for me, i saw no good in the world, no future for myself or anyone. But in the pumpkins music i found love, in its truest form.
After i started finding out more and more and trying to get as much as i could, i stumbled across netphoria, started posting there, but as i didnt hate billy corgan i was rejected imediatly, so i wasnt rushing to get back into a message board, and when i was looking for mach 2 i came across this site and looked into the message boards and thought there were realy nice people, at that point there werent too many members, maybe 8 or so regulars, i dont know how many of those are left, but i know pumpkinjodi still drops in . I am proud to see the site grow so much, and it has helped me imensly in growing my SP knowledge, were at netphoria if you dont imediatly know everything about the band you must be metaly retarded or something.
Kudos to murder for being so consistant and dedicated.

Hello Im Will from Derby UK
Been a fan since sometime in the early 90's when I first saw the Pumkins on Jools Holland Show doing Rhinoceros.
Favourite Album is Siamese Dream but favourite song is thru the eyes of ruby, which is also my favourite song of all time by any artist!
Only just found this site a few months ago and been lurking a little before joining. really impressed with the ammount of bootlegs etc available
Anyway I cant wait for the new Album and hoping they do a tour on thier own in the UK at some point (I missed out on the festival tickets and cant afford the stupid prices on Ebay )

Hello. My name is Zak. Live in SLC. I just recently started posting here.
I was about 9 or 10 when I heard Drown. My sister was playing it from her Singles soundtrack tape. I wasn't much into music at the time, but I enjoyed the song, just never cared to know who sang it. Then when I was about 13 I heard Disarm on the radio. Amazed by the song, I asked my friend who the band was. So I officially knew who SP was. Again, I wasn't too much into music. I enjoyed hearing the SD songs on the radio but left it at that. Finally, my eyes and heart awoke during the MCIS tour. My cousin got tickets to the concert and I decided to go knowing very few of their songs (I think other than the aforementioned songs, I'd only seen Rocket on MTV a few times)....I was in love. I was only able to see them 2 other times after MCIS. Both were amazing. I seen Zwan as well. Own a ton of bootlegs and T-Shirts (I think I have ~20 T's now :P). I'm such a fanboi, hehe.
I'm terribly disappointed I was unable to snag a Fillmore ticket High hopes that a "traditional" tour will take place or if they decide to keep it to smaller venues, at least hit somewhere around my parts. I'm betting a bunch of us harbour that same hope

"Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing, fact that we do not know, who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing,
forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself."

Hello everyone,
I've been registered here for a while and visit the site about twice a day but only post when I feel I really have something to contribute. I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada in a very small town but used to live in Toronto. I've been a fan of the Pumpkins since the Siamese Dream era when I was 17 and since then have never found another band that I could call a favorite. I am an avid supporter of indie rock and love listening to new music. Above all else I feel there is enough Pumpkin love to go around and have a real problem with fans who beleive they are suppirior to others simply becasue they have been listening to/following them longer.
EDIT: I'm really excited to add that I've already bought my ticket to see them at the Virgin Festival in Toronto this September, I think it will be my 9th Corgan related show to date.
