I tried to write a lot of things here and when I thought it was good enough I had a problem with internet and everything got lost :/ Maybe lucky yours, but the point is that I'm here and want to have a good start and find people who love smashing pumpkins and is open to talk about it and music in general. that's all ._.
Web posted on: Tuesday, August 11, 1998 5:04:26 PM From Correspondent Mark Scheerer NEW YORK (CNN) — The Smashing Pumpkins don’t really have a persecution complex. They’re just fighting back after finding themselves in an awkward give-and-take situation this summer. “We’re a cantankerous group,” explains lead singer Billy Corgan. “We don’t take shit from anybody. I would like to include a friend named Jay’s recollection of a Smashing Pumpkins show. Pumpkin Love ok, without further adieu, here’s my story. I dated a girl that was from Chicago for 3 years, and we went to the big city to visit her family at least once a year. we ordered our plane tickets about 6 months in advance so we knew that we were going to be there in july of 1998. Around April or May, I heard a report that the pumpkins were going to play a free concert at soldier fiel... (4025 more letters)

While I like coppermine, for images, I grew tired of it. So I created a whole new SP Image Gallery, with special music for each album I created and uploaded it on my site. And not with coppermine, or any of those kind of galleries. I also wanted to add some new pics too. So it's a done deal now. Dam, I have a shitload of pics! It was rainy here yet again, it seems to just wait for the weekend, all week it is sunny and them boom here comes the weekend and you can hear the thunder and the s... (61 more letters)
Thursday I had to have some major and painful dental work done. The night before I picked out some very special songs to soothe and relax me during the procedure. My dentist gives you a cd player to listen to, that or watch tv, and I chose the cd. It was so comforting, I put on sunglasses, and just closed my eyes, and just got lost in the pumpkiness. Before I knew it, the dentist was finished and it was over. :)
I don't know, maybe it's a topic which doesn't belong in here for 100%, but i just want to know your opinions on that, because you all in here are the nicest people I've ever met online and sometimes this forum feels like second home for me:) . It's a very personal topic (not as personal as the "sleeping with my friend" thread, but nearby8-)) and it's linked to the Pumpkins somehow, so here it is: In the last days, i feel more and more changes coming into my life. It starts with finishing scho... (2123 more letters)

Hey, guys You may know me as Event Of The Year here at thepumpkins.net, and probably most notably for my cover of "Zeitgeist" in the recent contest. Over the course of the contest, I received many requests from some of the members of this site for original music, and I just wanted to say, yes, I do... I'd like to disclaim that my intention here is not to use this site as a platform for blatant self-promotion, but I do appreciate the overwhelming response and encouragement from many of yo... Guitar Center met up with Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin at a hole-in-the-wall Chinese food joint in North Hollywood to talk about Smashing Pumpkins, Fresh Cuts Vol. 2, studio chops and how to make it big as a fresh, young band. This Blog is for any one that wants to share there heart on why we are pumpkin heads. Why I Am a Fan, I have been a fan since 2000 my dad got me into them, All of the SP songs speak to me in a way I can't Explain.
I hate making friends and I find it very frustrating. I try to be who I am and most of the time dont succeed. I am very sarcastic and have a weird sense of humor. I dont really like talking unless I'm comfortable with you and have a difficult time making sense. I love drawing though and hope to be a artest some day... well thats pretty much all for now.
I don't know how many of you know about Johnny winter, but I learned something really interesting about my guitar teacher today. So, during lessons, he asked me whats songs I've been working on. I was kind of messing around with Tribute to Johnny today so I told him, "Tribute to Johnny... Johnny Winter." And I never expected his response. He said, "Oh, Johnny Winter, I used to play with him all the time, we were friends." I was speachless. I couldn't believe my guitar teacher used to be fri... (498 more letters)
Well, on my holidays in Tunis (Northern Africa), I found this strange Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits Release, called "Gold 2000" in a small musicshop nearby my hotel. It was new and untouched (with plastic foil around the case), I bought it for about 6 Euro (=about 8 Dollars). First of all, here's the tracklist: 1. Stand inside your love 2.1979 3.Geek USA 4.Ava adore 5.BWBW 6.Whir 7.I'm one (=I am one written like this ) 8.The crying tree of mercury 9.The end is the beginnig is ... (754 more letters)
Well, I've been listening to Zeitgeist AND the Bounustracks that often, that I finally found a way to describe the album. The first thing which comes up to your mind while listening to Zeitgeist is that the Pumpkins became very hard. I mean there have been several "breakouts" like XYU or Tales of a scorched earth but here, one heavy song follows the next. The first silent moment is neverlost which would MAYBE have been a B-Side on Aeroplane or so in their best times, it's definitly a weak so... (1519 more letters)

I was so happy, that's what I'd been looking forward to for months, it's all I talked about. I'd been a die hard fan since 1991 and I'd never had a chance to see them. i've actually been thinking about this for a while.... what i think is that around '95/'96 billy noticed that he was starting to show sings of aging. and he knew that just couldn't happen as long as he was in the public eye. so he went down to hell to make a deal with the devil (aka courtney love). he said he'd give her his beautiful perfect hair in exchange for eternal youth. and so far it's working out pretty well
so i've LOVED the pumpkins for as long as i can remeber, since i was about 2(siriusly, the lyrics to Bullet were somewhere in with my first words). And in my opinion the mellow songs (i.e Annie-dog, disarm, thirty three) were always my favs. while listening to the new album I HEARD NONE OF THAT. just hearing zeitgeist made me EXTREMELY happy, u kno, just cuz the fact the pumpkins were back. But where is the beautiful song writting i've come to know and love from billy?
I preordered Zeitgeist on iTunes and I'm pretty pumped. But I noticed a few people who dont want to preorder. So, out of curiousity, how many of you guys are preordering the album? I preordered it because I deffinatly think it's a way better deal. The good thing about preordering it... - It comes with extra tracks (and covers, but they usually suck) - You don't need to make a trip out to the store to buy it. - You dont need to worry about going to a store and finding out they dont ... The more I think about it the more I realize that the new sing;e "Tarantula" sound like a Queens on the Stone Age song. I wonder... was Billy meaning to overdo hos sound? Was it his intention to make the music so dramatic? In my humble opinion, I think he might have tried too hard on making a bang and totally over shot the mark. But alas. It is SP and I still love the song.
in the liner notes to PI, for the song "Spaced," billy writes, "kinda hard to explain so i won't, but if you listen really close you can hear the 7 secrets of the 7 veils of apollo." i've been trying for YEARS to figure out what he's talking about. If anyone knows PLEASE SHARE!

Hey, I've noticed a bunch of hidden messages In som Smashing Pumpkins songs. I've always gotten a kick out of hidden messages, meanings, things that are hard to hear unless you turn it up, maybe something backwards???? Here is something that I wrote a while ago and have posted on my Myspace blog. People there enjoyed it so I thought maybe the people here would too. Basically I take "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and break down the lyrics as if I was analyzing a poem. I then take what I pulled out as the message of the song and compare it to the themes that are in Kurt Cobain's suicide note. By writing this, I am not implying in any way that "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" is a tribute to Kurt Cobain, I'm jus... (3612 more letters)
Not to be a jerk but what is the deal with all these 17 year old Pumpkin fans that think they go way back to the day. Yeah ok I understand bands are always going to get new "followers" but when snot nosed little punks start trying to tell me about a band I have been into since they were slamming gerber and dirtying pampers, I want to burst at the seems.
Finding out they were disbanding. First hearing that D'Arcy was leaving and letting Auf Der Maur take her place in the Machina tour. I told myself I would never stop loving them. Even though there was nothing else to look forward too. There were two things I waited for with more enthusiam than anything else. The Final show at the Metro and the Music Video DVD. I have to say, I was terrified when I first heard that Billy Corgan was planning on resurrecting the Pumpkins. Especially with how awful and terrilby dull Zwan was. I may perhaps be the youngest Smashing Pumpkins fan. (eh, maybe ;) ) Then again, maybe not. However, i've been listening to the Pumpkins since I was two-years old. Since I'm still new to this forum, I still haven't figured out somthings, such as editing blogs. I just wanted to add that I am NOT a fangirl. I don't ever want to be a little teenie fan girl that screams things such as "OMG, Billy is soooo hot!" If I ever do I pray that someone shoots me in the head. I am straight up all about the music and although I do think that Billy is quite attractive [who doesn't?] I am not a teenie fangirl. Thats all I wanted to add. Mary
Hi! It all started one faithful day on my day off. I was sitting in my cubicle of a room, as usual, and was watching a My Chemical Romance interview. They were showing thier all time favorite music videos. Some I knew, others I didn't. One of the members favorite music video was Bullet with Butterfly Wings. As I was sitting there watching I realized that I knew all the words to the song! Then it dawned on me that I recognized Billy's voice. So I did some research via Youtube and watched ... i am young( 15) and i dont have any wisdom. but billy corgan is a person, just like all of us. The smashing pumpkins are a band, not some immortal savior. Billy is not in the pumpkins anymore. It sucks but all good things must eventually come to an end

I meet Bob on Sat. nite for the first time and he introduced me to the Smashing Pumpkins and I was quite surpised because I always thought, and I thought it without even knowing their sound becuase of my own stupidity that they were just a heavy Trashy-Sounding band. I think Billy's problem is that he's been trying to be "somebody", he's been looking for the perfect Billy, yes, he is a perfetionist and that's what makes him one of the best musicians ever. But I don't think he realizes that rage and love are not so disconnected, I'd say the way to make the new Pumpkins reborn even greater that the original birth is that Billy realizes that he can be Zero and Glass at the same time, and if you think about it, one of the good things of Mellon Collie is the coex...
