This may not be the actual cover. I did see another supposed cover of this album somewhere else.

This is the cover. The image properties say "zeitcover.png.". BTW, I think it's awesome, reminds me of The Arising posters/tshirts.

Red sea...of...koolade? Liberty drowning? I'm starting to see lots of politcal statments with Zeitgeist.
smilies/confused.gif Maybe Zach de la Rocha is in the band.

I love it, it looks awesome. Note that they got back to be just 'SMASHING PUMPKINS' instead of 'The Smashing Pumpkins'.

i think billy should quickly steer into another direction with this cover before releasing it. it looks, imo, quite horrible.

What are you talking about?!?
Glass Ghost , May 17, 2007

I can't believe you guys don't like that cover!? I think it's awesome!! Why is it that the Pumpkins are apparently "forbidden" by their fans to show some political consciousness??? I applaud the political implications, this album is gonna rock our worlds!!

I think the backlash against the pumpkins going political is because of the reason we listen to the pumpkins. They were a personal band I could listen to on a personal basis. If I wanted to here something political...I had Rage Against the Machines.

I understand... but...
Glass Ghost , May 17, 2007

I guess I understand that... but I doubt the whole album will be geared towards political topics... Tarantula, so far, sounds like a personal song.
But regarding global warming, I think its admirable that the band is supporting its awareness. It's a serious issue that people need to wake up to... too many people just dismiss the mountain of scientific evidence regarding it. It's not simply about the earth "warming-up", in fact it should be given a different term... because the real concern, as I understand it, is the sea level rising and the changes occurring to deep ocean currents... which directly affect our weather patterns and environment. I don't understand how someone can look at the evidence and say "ah, its a bunch of bullshit", that is simply ignorant.

You go Pumpkins. Prove again that you can adapt, and redefine yourselves, and at the same time embrace important issues that concern all of us.

For those that would have you repeat the same style of music in a different key, over and over, so as not to offend our precious memories of what you used to be: READ THE ALBUM TITLE!

This album will ROCK.

Time will tell
Mdanaher , May 18, 2007

We will have to wait and hear the album. I just hope Billy sings about what he really feels and doesn't try to capitalize on the success of bands like Perl Jam and Nine Inch Nails, copying their use of political themes.

Snail_Rocks , May 18, 2007

Bummer i liked the origoinal release date being the 07/07/07 it just has that feel like something significant is going to happen then but the 07/10/07 doesn't really do it for me smilies/sigh.gif

Personally, I dont think the album art speaks politically or about anything socio-political for that matter, but thats the beauty of art. To everyone their own interpretation.

The picture it paints in my mind is that of the Pumpkins' left for dead, rising above from the chaos once again to come and "save" us from impending doom, save us from ourselves lol
It gives me hope. With all the turmoil that we have in the world, its nice to know we have them to turn to once again.

Long live The Smashing Pumkpins
