effects are pretty good, even the repetative ambient noice in the back is kind of nice (but does get a bit annoying at times) the drumms are a bit too clean for the song. i really enjoyed the fact that the guitar was used for the voicing instead of having some adolecent kid butcher the song. i wish the bongos would have made it on the track about midpoint, that's like the part everyone wants. lol

the solo near the end is pretty fucking nice though, even the effects complement it very nicely. but still the drumms were what kept this from being a powerful take on this song. it just seemed that the song was being taken off to a new limit near the end, but the drummer (i know its a drum machine) was just doing his part, almost falling asleep behind the toms.

all in all, i thought this was a pretty good take on the song. i know i'm the first one to post on this, but anyone that puts this down doesn't appreciate music, or knows how to critique atleast.

well done "thisfoolyoulovesomehow"!

(oh yeah, p.s., no police sirens in the background? i'm just joshing ya)

it's alright. Probably the thing that needs the most fine tuning is the guitar tone when you kick in the distortion/fuzz, whatever you're using. I think the problem is there isn't really any warmth to the sound, it sounds sterile and two dimensional. It's most likely from recording method you used. I also don't know about the solo at the end. It almost gets too hard to hear what you're actually playing behind all those effects. It sometimes gets to the point the solo has no melody, it's just squealing noise. You got some cahones tackling this song though.

I agree..cahones

Seems like this song is getting some really good indepth reviews, rather than "nice". I agree with the drum track...using a drum machine isn't too bad, but maybe EQ it a little..add some reverb, just so it doesnt SOUND so much like a drum track. Using guitar instead of vocals was a good idea. Also, yeah the distortion/fuzz is hard to record at home. That could use some work here, but the actual playing is good.

What type of equipment did you use?

Yeah, the end is a bit rough, but nobody could recreate the real thing anyway.

thanks for all the REAL reviews...not just one word answers...

The Drums were just fruity loops..

and as for guitar gear...

Digitech whammy>Boss SD-1 super overdrive>Boss DS-1 Distortion>Russian Big Muff pi>Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ

i run that into a Fender FM-25 modeling amp on the tweed modeling setting and run the headphones jack into my sound card. i know its ghetto but it serves my purpose.

i use Cool Edit Pro to do the multitracking

PS

the ambient noise was just a track of me plating the high e on the 17th fret over and over....occasionally throwing in the lower octave.... then reversing the track...

the solo wasnt meant to be melodic towards the end.....i am just sliding a slide on the strings with my left hand and switching effects with my right hand....and layered that like 3 times.

and i should have added bongos and a siren!!! i forgot to do so.... maybe ill do a remix!!

good job. i like the idea of playing the vocal melody on the guitar. you wouldn't want to ruin a good cover by butchering the vocals. overall, well done. my only concern is the drums - if you can beef them up, this would sound even better.

The only reason i know how to play dozens of SP songs is because of you. You tab songs better than anyone. Hope to see the site up to its former glory soon!

I'm glad you value the opinion of others and take it as positive feedback and make yourself improve with every stride and step.

I was joking about the police siren, since that was a fluke on the recording in general, but the bongos would be a nice touch.

Funny, I see you as I used to be ages ago, setting up my guitar and effects into my PC, only I used to use my PC as my only means of sound output. Have fun with it, you're doing an incredible job! Be Blissed~
