I preordered Zeitgeist on iTunes and I'm pretty pumped. But I noticed a few people who dont want to preorder. So, out of curiousity, how many of you guys are preordering the album?

I preordered it because I deffinatly think it's a way better deal.

The good thing about preordering it...

- It comes with extra tracks (and covers, but they usually suck)

- You don't need to make a trip out to the store to buy it.

- You dont need to worry about going to a store and finding out they dont have it.

- You get to buy tickets of ticketmaster before anyone who didnt buy the album in advance does.

- It's cheaper than buying the album  at stores especially including the fact tthat it comes with more songs.

And the only bad thing that I could think of...

-You dont get the actuall cd cover itself which would be prettyt cool to have.

So anyway, thats my opinion. What do you guys think?

reasons not to pre-order:

itunes does NOT beat having the packaged product (don't forget drm, if that's still an issue)

you get a cover but not an entire booklet to print out

the ticket thing is only good if you're willing to pay ticketmaster's extortionate add-on fees - otherwise make a trip to a ticketmaster outlet and waive booking/s h charges (also, when have you ever tried to buy tickets from them and not got an error message)

plus, if you're happy waiting and don't mind a trip to the store

alright, i see what you guys mean. but you dont have to be such a jerk about it. anyway, i already preordered it. And I'm not sure whether i will buy it at the store or off itunes. But, i noticed that it says you can cancle any preorder. However, while reading the white text on the main page for preordering zeitgeist on itunes it said "This preorder is not refundable". So does it mean the WHOLE preorder, or just the ticketmaster (in other words is it sayin "you can cancle this preorder anytime before July 10th, but after you cant")

Can someone help? I don't know what to do. I am fine with the preorder but I am starting to be convinced that it is better buying it from stores

I pre-ordered, BUT

It seems to me that anyone buying off iTunes is just getting it for the extra stuff, and then heading out to the store and buying the material. IF you're not that devoted, why are you here? smilies/confused.gif

I would get it from itunes and buy the album physicaly, but itunes is such a bitch to deal with, the files are so strict, they have that locking thing, and i use windows media player, so i doubt i would even be able to get it to play.

sweet, ya i was thinking about that. I think I'll wait a few days after july 10th (because I already preordered it on iTunes and I have iTunes and it works great for me)And when all the crowds are down (if there are any in my area) I'll go buy it, because the actual case would be an awesome thing to have.

Not go to the store? I LOVE! going to the store to pick up an album that I've been waiting for. I don't buy music off of iTunes at all. I can get the bonus tracks some other way, so I'm not worried about that. Plus, you can get the booklet version in the stores as well. I have little money, and the closest they are touring to me is at least 3 hours, so I don't need to worry about tickets (right now at least). Plus, I'm sure they won't sell out anywhere near me within the first morning.

For me, going to the store is the best choice, because it's the most exciting!!!!! smilies/grin.gif

I agree, going to the store and buying it is a lot of fun! That's how everyone did it before Amazon and iTunes. But I do understand why people use iTunes. With technology today it's a lot easier to use iTunes, especially if you just like one song from an artist and you're paranoid about computer viruses. But still with today's technology you still can't go online and get tickets without getting the "blue screen of death" and seeing "ERROR". Technology can make all sorts of great cars and other stuff, but you still can't properly buy tickets online without wanting to kill yourself.

definitely just pre-ordered. I wanted doomsday clock all the extra goodies. IM SO EXCITED. but I am sooo going to buy that special edition with the 72 page booklet. OH and on itunes i noticed that there is a digital booklet. HOW MANY PAGES? and then I also ask myself..."self, would you rather have a damn book or a damn DVD??" I then reply, "I am confused." and then my mind wanders to other burning questions, "itunes PLUS? WTF? is zeitgeist available through it?" and then i feel completely obliterated and collapse in a heap of feces, blah blah, blah the point is. I like the itunes stuff but i am def getting a hard copy too.

iTunes is crap
daretohearafool , June 23, 2007

i pre-ordered the album with the book off of bestbuy.com and pre-ordered the tarantula single off of cduniverse.com because it's just easier for me to do that then try and find it somewhere in this lame idaho college town that i'm currently in. to me, there is NOTHING better than the real deal.

Sound Quality
rompulent , June 23, 2007

I think downloading it off of iTunes is not going to give you the same quality as you would get straight off the CD. The highest quality I've seen off the internet for a single song is like 320kbps. The same song off of a CD is something like 1200kbps. A perfect example of that is NIN's Year Zero. I listened to the whole album while it was streaming off the NIN official website, and it sounded pretty good, but then i bought and listened to the CD version, there was definitely an improvement in sound quality, and i was listening to it with the exact same little computer speakers both times. SOOOO, to sum up..., buy the CD, don't download off of iTunes. It'll sound better smilies/grin.gif
