I got standard yesterday, from a locale retailer who evidently was not aware of the changed release date, should be getting the Target one from a friend who works there sometime, the Best Buy one, and the deluxe if I can find it. I refuse to use iTunes even to get a bonus track...

Got the Target version. I considered going for iTunes, but rejected because I like Zeitgeist better, and I also prefer to have a hard copy and the art.

Ef you Best Buy.....DFA is a CD killer!

Picked Up Two Copies of Special Edition
Guest , July 11, 2007

Neither Target nor Walmart had the special edition, so I had to cave and buy them at Best Buy. Love the artwork. I had hoped for some cool photos of the band, but it appears Billy is less interested in gracing the book with himself. I was especially suprised to see all the photography was done by Billy.

Can't stop listening to United States. I was at two shows in Asheville and I think the album sounds so much better live. But the recording of United States sounds close to the live version. Tarantula, not so much.

The CD can sound underwhelming at first, but eventually you get used to the fact it's not a Siamese Dream/Mellon Collie and you like it for what it is.

I like having it be different from Siamese and Collie. Gives you a variety of Pumpkins to play. They're really contrasting I think, actually every album they've put out, so it makes for a well rounded set of albums to play I think.

Yeah, live sounds so much better. I think having the other actual members perform makes it seem like a fuller sound and those backing vocals on Tarantula are just amazing. I can't wait for the Dallas show.

So Smashing Pumpkins are just Billy and Jimmy as it is written in their paperback to Zeitgeist?! I did not know that Jeff and Ginger are just rented professional musicians... James and D'Arcy or Melissa should return... smilies/sigh.gif

Yes, they're just members for live performances, as of now. I hope it does change, I would love to hear Ginger and Jeff's work in the studio as well. I think they're both outstanding replacements for D'arcy and Iha.

It isn't a ephocal record as MCIS and SD were, but some of the new songs will be classics in the next years.

"7 Shades of Black" could be in the next "The Best of..." album.

well first of all- i love the album. its no gish, sd, or mcis, but it has quite a few gems and is definitely comparable to machinas 1&2.
secondly... who is this ginger person? Ginger Fish of Marilyn Manson??
