I never considered Tarantula as an acoustic number...I like the live aspect of this, and damn, you nailed the solo. My only wish for this would have been more passion on the vocals. Otherwise, thanks for this. It's refreshing!

I agree with Event ... nice work on the solo, but it sounds just like some guy playing in his basement

It's interesting to note that Alan was one of the people who submitted demos for Ghost Children 2. Unfortunately he didn't make the final cut because it was 70 artists competing for 13 spots, so it was some tough competition. I tried to track down as many artists who did not make the final cut to see if they were interested in submitting something, but I was probably able to contact maybe a dozen at most. There maybe more people from Act IV past submitting something, but the people that have responded have basically given me maybes.

The solo

Billy once played Tarantula (acoustic) at the Berlin secret show back in June. Even for Billy he took some doing to pull off the solo on acoustic guitar.

FYI, I think it is in fact recorded in a basement or something like that. There is video for this rendition on Youtube. He seems to also have many other SP covers on there. I noticed he is not on my myspace list for Act IV (doesn't appear to be on Myspace period), so I guess I must have not been able to contact him directly after all. He just found about this on his own I guess.

Great work! Definitely with the solo, too.. that sounds pretty tough to do on an acoustic.

glad i didn't do this too...

hah i was actually considering doing an acoustic version of tarantula too... that or doomsday clock acoustic... couldn't get them to sound right, though, so i had to revert to the electrified version. kudos, though, that solo sure is a pain acoustically ain't it?
cool

Thanx for your comments and sorry about the poor quality of the tape.

It was really recorded in my room, so that´s whay it doesn´t sound clean.

Actually the video can be watched on Youtube, like David said.

Sadly I´m not on MySpace, so I just found about the contest on thepumpkins.net

Anyway, I´m glad to be here.

Thanx
Alan Falsetti
Only person that submitted for GC2 that also submitted for this
written by Eye , February 13, 2008
Hey Alan. I hope you are doing well. I can't believe it but you are the only person who submitted for both Ghost Children 2 and this contest. Hannah Yester, Spindle, and I believe Dronen had suggested they might do a song for the contest, but they didn't submit anything. I try to get Act IV alumni, Analogue to submit something, as Christophe's voice doesn't sound so Billy-like after he got singing lessons (after hearing a recent cover he did of Meladori Magpie), but he end up recording anything.

anyways, I enough of my rambling,
David

Hello everyone. There have been several complaints about the voting system. And after further review, some flaws were identified. My colleague, the webmaster for ThePumpkins.net, Jay (MurderMcMurderson) has installed some new security measures to help ensure more fair voting. And to help things along, we are starting fresh, so the voting is as fair was we can get it from the start.

Please recast your vote if have not already done so. Before you vote, please thoughtfully listen to all the Zeitgeist covers, and choose what you feel is the best cover. In all honesty, this contest should be an indication of how many feel a given cover is the best cover, not who is the most popular band, artist, or person.

If you have submitted something for the contest, please encourage your fans to check out all the covers before making a decision. You are welcome to mention that you have a cover up for the contest, but I am imploring you not to blatantly tell people to go vote for your cover.

I know we cannot control what people to tell their fans on myspace or anywhere else, but I am asking you to do a favor to everyone involved, and be as fair and honest as possible. In the scheme of things, I would hope that people would get more enjoyment from winning fairly, knowing what people actually think of their cover, rather than distorting the outcome to win a few CDs and vinyls.

take care,
David

Wow..I really didn´t know I was the only one to submit for both.

Maybe someday I´ll win the contest so I can just shut up and stop bothering the other fans (just kidding).

Anyway, I only submit for fun. As you can see, my versions are not pretentious.

Thanx everyone for listening!
Alan
