how does this cd relate the 'normal' 25 track Machina II? Would you say that this is disc 2 (or 3) or something of the same album?

No, it isn't, it is very similar though.

Anyone upset by James and D'arcy not returning, to the point that they will not give the New Pumpkins a go, needs to realize that Billy IS and ALWAYS WILL BE the band. James and D'arcy are nice, complimentary musicians with mediocre, at best vocal skills. James and D'arcy were primarily for the image from Siamese Dream on, a record that everyone knows Billy wrote and recorded by himself (except for the drums).

Yeah, Zwan wasn't what the people wanted and Billy's solo effort was "out there" (to be kind). But this band WILL BE the Pumpkins as far as the creative process, the history and the direction. It could be metal, it could be new wave, it might have a grungy or electronic twinge. It will be the Pumpkins and for that I'm exctatic! Jimmy was always the most important cog since he is one of the best drummers of the alterna-rock ilk (If not the best then top 3 according to Billy). As far as I'm concerned the band is completely back in the sonic sense.

I wouldn't call it "disc 2" of Machina 2 or anything like that - it contains demos of songs from Machina and Machina 2 recorded sometime in 1999, plain and simple (with the odd addition of two Adore demos and two soundboard recordings from a show on Halloween 1998). "Real Love" is the same version that eventually appeared on Machina 2, and "Atom Bomb" sounds the same as the commercial version, too. As far as I recall, Billy made this tape and gave it to a fan at a show with instructions to bootleg it out.

It's amazing, because I said the SAME THING about it sounding like Final Fantasy music.. like something from that place.. umm.. where you get Cloud's Apocalypse, it's been a long time since I played.

And is is just me or does the version of XYU when Billy's singing: "Mary dreams of a rear view mirror
she's got the snow inside her"

Think that's kinda directed at D'arcy and her coke?

No....
Geek N.Z. , May 15, 2008

I don't think it does refer to D'arcy, because that was recorded in 1998, she left the next year. :doesnotappr
